NHS "Low-Priority Crackdown" on Blood Test Strips

Just as an after thought, I bruise so easily even with 4mm needles. Hate it, you wouldn't want to see my belly

Type 2s on any of the 3 Types 2 medications meds ( including but not just insulin) that can induce hypos should be prescribed test strips according to NICE guidance
I think strips are needed by any type 2 who is motivated to test and then to activly use the information gathered in order to guide their diet / treatment - otherwise they and their doctor / DSN are working in dark based on one or two hba1cs a year

Type 2s on any of the meds that can induce hypos should be prescribed test strips according to NICE guidance

Some of my test strips are £££!
Quite shocking really as my meter is a bog standard one, doesn't do anything fancy.

If my GP changes my test strips, will they provide me with a new meter?

If you are lucky enough as a Type 2 to reverse your condition and have metformin removed it is a common practice to de-scribe test strips and monitors - at the very time when you need to keep monitoring; if it were a choice due to funding for lifestyle managed Type 2's and Type 1's I would for obvious reasons want the money to go towards Type 1. I do feel it is false economics on the part of the decision makers on the Type 2 decisions of management and just hope the units / test strips specified are at least as good as those removed.
