has anyone ever raised a issue with pals i have been jumping through loops for the last 5 years to get a insulin pump and have now been told after 8 months after the assessment that the nurses at the hospital have suspended any new start date training as they don’t have enough staff i’ve had enough now and have complained to pals

I was given my first pump after ten years of asking. I understand waiting for a long time is not unusual.

Good luck with PALS. I hope that they are more efficient than those at my local hospital. I approached PALS after I had been promised a report of an investigation that never materialised. My example about PALS is nothing to do with pumps, but was a serious case of staff failing to look after a very unwell patient. Until I approached PALS, and found them wanting, I thought that they would be helpful. Not in my case. I never heard anything from the consultant, nor did PALS get back to me.

Perhaps you, or someone else, will report back with a success story? I will be interested to hear what they can do about shortage of Diabetes Specialist Nurses.

I haven’t contacted PALS for anything diabetes related but like above I contacted them due to an issue I had with A&E and being prescribed something that could have seriously endangered me. Aside from the initial phone call to ask if I wanted it investigated I never heard back from them

Don't hold your breath. They're not really much practical use. We've contacted them several times over errors (eg A&E missing two broken bones) and they take information, then nothing happens. Unfortunately this appears to be a very common experience.

I suspect it's more to do with the fact that funding has dried up and they don't have the funds to deliver the kit needed. I doubt PALS is going to be of much use to you, it's only when they get their next round of funding that they can be help - the best way forward is to keep liaising with your team so you are there in the pecking order, keep doing everything they ask and just be the best you can be to yourself in the meantime and keep on top of your t1d, no point getting wound up.
