Ok so this is a question i think only a few people may be able to relate to.

For decades i have suffered from Night terrors, as i understand it this is a night time Joy where your mind is in a dream state but your body inst paralised like normal.

It tends to run in families (Crazy times, i will wake up and there is something in my bed/room/floating that i know 100% is going to get me, huge Adrenalin fight or flight repsonse (I have jumped out of second floor window to escape in the past!)

Either way thats just some interesting reading for people who have not come across this before.

My question for those who have, are there any links between Metformin and Night terrors, i used to get one a week at best, often when i had eater certain foods before bed.

Since i have been on medication i have been getting them almost every night and pretty intense, cut my leg up rolling out of bed to escape the massive spike i knew was descending on the bed!.

Im not all that stressed either, although deep down i suspect i may not be handling my diagnosis as well as i think i am perhaps, i dunno.

Either way just in case any one else has this fun night time treat im interested if there is any connection. (I understand its a pretty specialist subject!(

Hi @sno0opy

I had night terrors in my 20’s during a time where I was living and working away from home in a hotel and would wake paralysed in fear that the most evil entity was stalking me in my room, I remember these episodes as being intense and disturbing so reading your post reminds me a lot of this. It was a period of upheaval for me so I had a lot going on with being away from home and was moving house too so pretty stressful. I haven’t had any since this period in my life though.

The only thing I can think of is to find a way to really relax before bed, trying uploading the ‘calm’ app in your phone and doing some meditation before bed, see if this helps alleviate the situation ?

I have had a reoccurance of nightmares just recently. Not as intense as the ones you describe, but I'm becoming a bit fearful of going to sleep. I suspect it relates to a number of things that have all happened at once for me and having left permanent employment to do contracting and discovering that I'd let my diabetes get very badly out of control has shocked me. Maybe you are not handling your diagnosis very well - I know I'm not, especially as I thought I'd beaten it years ago.
