Out of interest @donnellysdogs, what size needle were you using for lantus?
Yes go for 4mm. When I showed my new at the time consultant my 8mm needles he couldn't believe I was prescribed them. There are 4mm and 5mm. 8mm look like giants comparing to themOnly size I have... Issued on 21st June 2006!!! -8mm....
As I'm lean would you say 4mm??

I had to use 8mm needles on mdi as that's the smallest the Penmate would take. Checked recently as thought by now they would do one for shorter needles but no such luck
My old pen not sure which one but it's really old takes 4mmtheir so nice and pain free, I've got a couple of boxes recently supplied I think their for my disposable lantus and the other ones prescribed whatever they are "stuck in fridge",
As I've never used anything but the pump for my last 15 yrs although as I said earlier I've been bolusing with my old pen as the handset on pump is so slow
I am needle phobic and the Penmate is a device that screws onto the novopen and fires the needle in for you when you press a button. I couldn't manage anything else and it seems they haven't updated this device. Otherwise I'd be using 4mm, although not sure if you have to be super thin for those anyway. I used to prefer injecting straight in and not having to pinch up skin.
DD I don't know how the 8mm don't bother you when you're too slim to take any sets... The 8mm hurt me... ! DSN said its cos there's not enough fat... And quickly gave me 4mm -- which have been fineFunny how different things affect differently...
Yes exactly the same here!Everytime I have been to loo or got in car ir sat down today I've got so used to feeling the sets that despite them not being there I've got in to the habit of expecting them to be. Even to the point of pulling my shorts up and pulling them out slightly to avoid a non existant set.. Guess this habit will take a while to break!!
Definitely5 hours after dinner its my basal rate...
Totally right. Same here. I'm not beating myself up. Each couple of days for me is broadly better than the previous couple of days, so that's fine. I'm learning and improving. It feels SO good!!it is going to be suck n see and this is only 30 hours of MDI again. I know I won't get right using Lantus or Levemir but the freedom away from the sets and probs far exceed the current fluctuations...
Definitely
