Non-invasive Blood Glucose Sugar Monitoring Watch

Hi
I have type II diabetes and been in remission on a low carb diet for 8 years now - however, my sugars are starting to slip and I don't know why.
I finger prick each morning (I now have to pay for the strips as the local practice won't supply them any more as I am not on meds!) and the sugars are rising.
Have any of you got any experience of these watches that monitor your blood glucose? This would be a great way for me to collect data on what foods I have eaten and which are triggering.

Very many thanks in advance

Best wishes

Peter

Have you done the before & after earing testing to see what in your current diet is an issue? Test immediately before the first mouthful and again 2 hours later and see what the rise is. I can't remember what the difference that hopefully it's below is - 2 rings a bell but I'm sure someone who knows better than me will be along pretty soon with more concrete information.

You might even want to invest in a Libre for a few weeks.

My advice would be however much the watch costs, just go and flush that money down the loo. same effect.
That's why I asked the question to see if someone had found one that works as I share that view but it would be so good if they did work

Do you know if you need a prescription for a Libre as I am pretty busy and I can't always test like that.

After 8 years it may be that your diabetes has changed, or perhaps something as simple as carb creep.
Did you test your meals with BG finger pricking at the start of going Low Carb?
In case you didn't or have forgotten how, here is the procedure:
Test just before a meal and then again 2hrs after first bite. You want the 2nd BG reading to be not higher than 2 mmol (or less) more than the pre-meal reading.
You also want to aim for both the pre-meal and post -meal BG readings ideally to be less than 8.0 mmol.

I think you don't need a prescription of a Libre as they often have short free trials available.

Many thanks - carb creep is a possibility - and I also need to do more exercise - I think a libre would at least give me some better data as I am not discplined enough with so much going on to be that good at taking the readings.

I find if I have something that is monitoring my food intake, heart rate, water, sleep and bg etc, I am consistent with the diet, exercise etc. I just use my fit bit and stab my fingers and use the sugar app. I find if I begin to get loose on the logging of the data, I lasp on the exercise etc. Weird but its the way I seem to work. I have to discipline myself with it all :banghead:

Many thanks - I seem to be a bit like you. Our local clinic won't give me free sticks anymore as I am not on meds and they are cutting back and so I thought if I have got to pay was there a tech way of solving it. I have am hoping for a free trial of the libre which I have signed up for following feebback from my question

The Libre for me was hit and miss, but hopefully okay for you ;)

Bear in mind
- you need a smartphone with NFC to use Libre.
- the trial is only available for people with diabetes. I am not sure what that would mean for someone in remission. I guess it is self certified so it is up to you.
- the watches state (albeit in small print) that they are not suitable for medical purposes so the vendors may disagree that they are scams. I would be careful about using such terminology on a public forum.

From what I’ve read up on these watches that interpret BG levels non invasively..
They use their own units of measurement…? But even those who have managed to convert these watch “units” to mmol or mg/dl have found them totally out… (in reviews.)

My conclusion. This form “tech” at this point is misleading for those looking for a non invasive way of BG monitor…

Some of the free trials on offer for the sensors however, are just that.. . Seemingly open to anyone wishing to “try before they buy..”

Yes, it does seem that way. A libre is on order! Hopefully 2 weeks of data will be of value
