Not a competition

Mine was 160-something when I was on gliclazide and (can't remember the other tablet) and i ended up in hospital with DKA a year or so ago.
I've since gone on insulin, my most recent result was 63

Not sure if they tested it in hospital - my main takeaway from the whole episode was their diabetes person telling me that if I didn't go on insulin injections I'd die.

The diabetes service got me to do a c-peptide test about 9 months ago to double check whether I'm a type one or two, and said I'm still producing some insulin and a type two (no idea what the numbers were).

Sorry @Mark Rawlinson for the off-topic swerve

I am just curious as to other peoples Hba1c numbers (the 3 monthly checks done by DN and Dr's)
Mine was 129 how does that compare to others ?
Almost 10 years in, my Libre estimated me at a HbA1c of 39 a few weeks ago, while the hospital's test was 42 somewhere in december '24. Wearing a Libre made it clear it wasn't my diet that was the main problem now, though some tweaks have been made since, but stress, (peri-)menopause and sleep issues made my bloods rise. It took the stringer out to know that, because there's not a whole lot I can do about simply getting older and dealing with this thing called life. The food is sorted. The rest, well... Not within my control, so I'll let it go and cut myself some slack. I did discuss meds with my nurse, because I'm, used to tighter control than I have now, -my liver starts bucking if I'm in the prediabetic range, and it gets painful- but she said they don't medicate under 52, so yeah. I'm on my own.

I know, it's not a competition and you just want to know where you stand... But you're asking people from all walks of life, with different conditions or none, and medications or not for other issues, different levels of insulin sensitivity/output, lifestyles, methods of treatment etc. There's not a whole lot to compare, you're quite unique, as am I, as is the next person. Is there room for improvement though, is that what you want to know? Probably. I'd hope so. :)

Have an excellent weekend,
Jo

I agree with @JoKalsbeek

I haven't been doing so well in life recently and so have been less keto than usual- I would say on my worst day I'm still very low carb but just recently that's been looking at more like 50 grams a day on some days- not all and probably not most but for me- yeah.

Life has been really challenging for me and I have had to just accept that I will get back on the wagon properly. Definitely room for improvement but my last HbA1C about a month ago was about 35 so I figure my body can take a couple of months more while my mind gets caught up.

It's a long (I hope) journey and I figure we all do our best. I try not to compare myself to others too much as I need to remember that humans are complex and so many things affect our levels so we control the things we can.

I put this post on to see if my test result was particular high
according to my own blood glucose monitoring ( this morning) it is now 8.1 that is not the Dr result but now I have gone to 16 units of Tuejeo insulin it has really shown an improvement ( I also take 1 metformin a day)

Think the highest mine has been is 112mmol/l so it probably is quite high. That said, I've seen people get to non-diabetic levels from very high starting points, and you can do that too.

113 at diagnosis in April. Yest to have another test but daily BG readings have mostly dropped below 10 (from mid teens and twenties) so it will be lower.

I agree it’s not a competition as we are all different, with different life experiences and differing health conditions. We all just try to do our best. So my only competition is with myself, to keep my HbA1c at non diabetic levels. Like @MrsA2 i record mine in my signature.
