Type of diabetes
Type 1

So many hypos. 36 yearsbof diabetes, sick of it, type 1 and is taking over my life

Consultants and specialist nurses but i cant make them understand the point that i am at.
They are not diabetic and know there will never be a cure
Feel that we are ignored and mis represented with no help realistically
Keep injecting, testing, managing, adjusting, hoping and being disappointed

Goodness - Poor You. Even after 15 years since I was diagnosed, I am finding it wearisome.

Very little let up and 3 possible good days is then followed by 7 days of ****.

It is wearisome the constant management but have your team suggested anything to help with the hypos? You need to talk to them and let them know you're struggling-perhaps a DAFNE course might help?

I met a guy at the clinic a couple of weeks ago who was Type 1. He had had a kidney and pancreas transplant, and was no longer diabetic. I understand that and artificial pancreas is in the foreseeable future. Might either of these new pancreases be an option?

I am in the middle of it. The 3rd one this week but the ratios are not working for me if i am honest.
Some tips are useful but heightens knowing that I am diabetic and got to not frighten the early diagnosed people
There is no psychological support and nothing to say that life will be amazing 5 years down the road
Just keep going itll get better...

Speak to your DSN and get them to help with your ratios. I understand that that's just a small part - the hypos - because the **** of Type 1 is wearing you down, but one of the signs of low sugar for me and many others is feeling tearful and hopeless. So the lows could be contributing too.

You can also ask for advice in the Type 1 section.

Many diabetes teams also have psychological help where you can talk through your feelings and get some support on the emotional side of diabetes.

I didn't know that - Thanks

Sorry to hear how you are feeling @shopping.com - the support is there if you ask for it, I know it is relentless at times and nothing can prepare you mentally for the battles we have to face in managing the constant testing, injecting, correcting which can get to all of us. Once you have completed DAFNE though and still find that you are struggling you could put forward a case to your team about being recommended for a pump, this could lessen some of the anxiety you are experiencing. Dont despair there is always hope and we live in ever changing times :)

I am just wondering how you are getting along now? I like to watch how the more expeienced ones deal with problems it helps shortcircuit my concerns. Keep you chin up
