number of HbA1c tests done per year?

I had them every 3 months for the last 1.5 years , involved two trips to the doctors, every 3 months. The waiting time started to get to me. If I turned up 30 mins late i was still 1 hour early :-)

I'm back to every 6 months now fortunately.
 
When I was pregnant, I had them every 4 weeks, but now I presume they'll revert to annually. My GP does them a week or so before my consultant appointment, along with a load of other blood tests like lipids, coeliac screen, liver function, etc

When I was first diagnosed, they were every 3 months, then every 6, then every 12 months as now.
 
Cheeses me off that my gp's will not do tests for the hospital. Due to chatting too much with consultant and laughing I have never walked out with a blood test form!! Last time I had to email her as the GP refused and then used the hospital blood tests results to call me in for an unecessary review!!
 
@donnellysdogs I tend to get mine done at my prescription review at my surgery, which usually is not too far in advance of my consultant appointment. That seems to go down better with the GP as it's like they're doung the tests as part of my review not just for the hospital, if that makes sense. ( I have my prescription reviewed annually too)

Our GPs had the highest QOF ratings in our county so the fact that they call patients in and review them is actually good. However when GPs stupidly write comments on blood results as "see DSN" for excellent... And just within 8 weeks of my official review with them its pure stupidity when there are patients that aren't going for checks that they should be chasing and people not getting "excellent!".

They call us in regardless of reviews for prescriptions.. Its meant to be yearly on uour birthday that a letter is sent out with blood test forms etc but never works out this way for me. I just think somewhere along the line my extra good reviews must be a "bonus"

No problem. I could moan for ages about my surgery and some of its hopeless 'improvements'. Once they didn't give me any test strips over Xmas. Sometimes you're at the mercy of bureaucracy, or even individual staff members, I find.
 
Funny - hearing all of this, I think I must have a really good surgery! The thread reminded me that I needed to get my bloods done, so I've called up, they're getting them printed today, I'm picking up the forms tomorrow and will get the tests done shortly.
