As its a post mortem, I will give it a miss, I don't like 'medical insides'.

Caught it accidentally for a few seconds. I probably could have watched it but chose to turn oner to BBC 2!

Thanks for the link. I've just watched it and found it interesting. Looking at my belly in a different light now!

The procedure was not very gory as there was no blood. Dr Mike was a big bloke himself considering what he knows about anatomy which worried me a bit.

Thanks Avocado for the feedback. For those interested, no doubt it will be on player shortly. Any conclusions drawn from performing the autopsy??

I am not in London - I just clicked on your link and got to the iplayer.

I don't want to post any spoilers, but I think it was an eye-opener. The human body is a miracle and to see it so damaged was quite sad. Too late for the lady, but kind of her to give others an opportunity to see what can happen.

What i dont understand is what they expect us to do about it? I have dieted and dieted. I have cut carbs etc and only lost 16lbs in over 7 months now. The first 14lbs went in the first 10 weeks...............then virtually nothing.

I have ME. I cant exercise it off...............and when I try to exercise I get shaky and nauseaous. My body simply wont burn off stored fat.

So what now? Just more and more blame and finger pointing at people like me.

Maybe there are several types of fat, depending on how it is caused. I am fed up, rock bottom, and scared.

I caught most of this last night (by sheer accident) - quite fascinating, and amazing where the fat goes! Makes you think. I found it quite inspirational watching, particularly the lady who had polycystic ovary syndrome and had run multiple marathons. Heck, I couldn't even do one!

Well I've been determined to lose weight for at least 30 years. Problem is the weight seems even more determined to stay. :(

yes. obesity is talked about as if it is easy to lose weight. For some, it may well be easy. For others, if dieting doesnt work, what is left to try?

If you can't exercise and diets don't work then the only option perhaps, is probably Bariatric surgery. Though I hate to suggest it.

I have just finished watching this programme.

I found it utterly fascinating. Sensitively and respectfully filmed and put together, it was a real education. Everything was explained in language I could understand. The people they featured talking about their own bodies were absolutely terrific - I found them inspirational. And the three people involved in the postmortem itself - yes, including the lady whose body was the subject of the piece - well, I'm not sure what to say, but I think 'thank you' fits.

The film-makers' gentle and thoughtful approach to this programme made it very different to how I had imagined it would be.

Humbling to watch.

Well done BBC Three.

I thought bariatric surgery involved dieting and being unable to eat. So I would have to starve to, maybe, lose weight, as 100 cals a day maintains my weight. I wonder what people eat after such surgery. Do they get malnourished after a while. And what about 10 years down the line...............
