Odd BG readings

Why would hubby's BG start climbing around 5pm and keep on climbing? He had 2 boiled eggs and a cup of tea and the reading one hour was 7.4, after two hours was 8.2. Now at bedtime without anything else to eat, he's testing at 8.7. Type 2 doing low carb, no meds.
(Reason he's testing so often is to regain control after letting it slide for a bit, tightening up the diet and testing for a few days to see what's going on).

Although they are a tad high they are not disastrous, could he be sickening for something? A cold, low lying infection, or I’ve found even just tiredness or lack of sleep can affect my BG,

Allowing for the accuracy of meter there not much difference in the readings so not really climbing but more a steady line. Keep an eye it could be just a blip there are lots of reasons other than food that affect our BS, stress is a big one so worrying about his numbers may be not helping either

Very true and he is tired and fedup today. Will keep on with the testing for a few days to try and see what's going on. TY!

Did he have milk in his tea?
The lactose could push the BG levels a bit higher.
As you say for the want of tiredness and wishing it down, relaxation and stress have differing levels!
Remember a finger prick test, depends on a lot of different factors, that is why the variance is there.
It's a snapshot of now, when you should be looking for the trend over a couple of weeks.
Testing around meals is recommended. As a pre meal and a two hours after will give you information about what food is ok.

Best wishes

Always washes hands Rachox yes. Takes a teaspoon of milk in tea Lamont. Yes ongoing testing is the only way to see what's happening, and you are all encouraging and helping us, thanks so much.
