Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
Oh well officially Type 2 Diabetic now.
Doctor rang is starting me on SR Metformin.
Still worried as can't get to loo right now easily.
Otherwise he was pleased Hba1c had dropped to 56% from 58%
Happy with me doing Low Carb/Keto and losing weight, so a Plus.
Now all I have to do is ring the surgeons secretary.

Welcome to the club.
Did your doctor not diagnose you with the 58 HbA1c, was the 56 a follow up a few weeks later ?

Anyway, read up & low carb & get yourself a meter

No because last time I got it down within 6 weeks. So still had me at Pre diabetic. Of course this time not active at all so much harder. Have a meter. Do low carb Keto anyway.

58% was the first reading for a long time. I had a second just now (56%) so I could tell pre op. I was hoping I could have got it down a little more.

Hi @filly just so people don't confused by the HbA1C levels you quote, you are mixing old style units with the new style measurements. It used to be measured in % but the numbers were usually between 7& and say 10%.
The new units are mmol so you have reduced your HbA1C from 58mmol to 56mmol where the first diabetic level is 48mmol.

You dont have to start the metformin right away. You could leave it for a while and see how lowering your carbs works for you?
Yes I would under normal circumstances. However going into hospital for surgery in a few weeks. Have had to jump through quite a few hoops to finally get accepted for surgery. 1 being BP meds and Metformin..... After surgery might give it a rest and see how I get but they are retesting me in 3 months.

Well blood glucose monitor in mmols but Hba1c in percentages. That's what the doctor told me.

On UK blood glucose meters, the measurement is mmols and HbA1c is also measured in mmols.

So for a HbA1c of 56mmol that would be 7.3% in the old measurements.

Thanks very much. Makes me feel better.

Had my Hba1c done last week. Result back. Just about hopping around the lounge. 46mmol
Now Prediabetic. Shall keep working away at it
Just so pleased.
Just wish Blood sugars would drop a bit more. This cold weather seems to be affecting them.

Not on the first but the second. Now he has just written in the notes after the latest....no action needed.
