A week ago today my T2 Diabetes was confirmed after a week of Metformin. My meds were doubled and added gliclazide.

Instant switch to a Low/No Carb diet.

Had a call with Dr tonight. Reviewed my blood sugars (max 7 for 4 days) and told me stop the Gliclazide straight away.

Absolutely chuffed.

Diet has been really easy so far and as a consequence I've lost 8lb in 10 days.

Thanks.

The Dr was really supportive and said most of his patients take a month to get to where I am.

I'm so chuffed.

It's thanks to all you guys on here. Pointing to the diets and other's success stories. Gave me the will to focus on a goal.

That is great news, and great you have a supportive doctor too.
Fingers crossed you continue to improve without the Gliclazide.

Super results.
Cracking doc though, if he gets all his patients down to those levels, and off meds in a month from being diagnosed.
NHS is working somewhere.

Good going. I didn't get any advice on reducing or stopping Gliclizide but, after a month or so I did it because I was concerned that my levels were getting too low. Tried a week off, went back to half a tablet for a couple of weeks then dropped completely.
Not taken any since November. Got HbA1c of 37 in Jan. Looks like your next result may be even better.
(Note, discussed with DN after dropping for a week and she was supportive)

Only off the Gliclazide, still on Metformin.

The doctor only scared the living b'jesus out of me and told me cut the carbs.

I decided to go full on.

Still a cracking doctor, if he/she reckons they get their patients back down in a month.
Fair play to them, they can save the NHS a fortune, I mean, a month!
'you're diabetic'
a month later.
your blood sugar is below 7 continuously!

Give them a nod on here, they deserve it.

Obviously you have done something outstanding to get down to normal in days, but even so, a few days more, a month is better than the holy grail mate.

Knocks that Newcastle professor bloke into a cocked hat for me.

I think that the description of Gliclzaide for some patients of type II is often not good

I also stopped it without any noticeable changes

I recently stopped gliclazide. I've lost some pounds too, but don't attribute it to the gliclazide.

I have also stopped gliclazide at moment but for me its just makeing me ill for 5 weeks.
My doc wants me on metformin prolong release but from what ive learnt i think i can control it with diet alone which is what im doing to prove to docs so they're not on my case all the time.

Update...

Exactly two weeks after inital diagnosis and I've lost 1 stone (yes 14lb).

I'm so happy.

Not been hungry once on a lo/no Carb diet.

Superb.

Amazing you didn't get nibbles when you started.
Even better you didn't get the low carb flu.

But don't let your results put others off, we just power on through, we ain't all so lucky.
It took me a bit of a workout.
