Great
when my diabetic Nurse says...what's diabetes to you.... well done, Excellent

Well, if that ain't a glowing endorsement of LCHF, I don't know what is?

Absolutely BRILLIANT!

Congratulations, David
I'm hoping I will be one to join you in the ranks of 'Remission' one day. Still working on it ;)
Thanks for the inspiration :)

Well done, that's great to hear. I'm now off my medications altogether and my doctor has said I've effectively cured my Diabetes so fingers crossed, this time next year, it will be official and I'll have no Diabetes diagnosis at all. Good luck with your remission.

You are an inspiration and I hope to get where you are this year. I want to come off a number of medication so with determined effort with weight loss I might do it (my GP said it's possible).

I simply refused to take any medication for diabetes, I am a bit concerned about what exactly its supposed to achieve. - ie does the medication make you excrete the excess sugar and that brings your levels down - or does it simply move the sugar from your blood stream to somewhere else its not wanted ? both dietdoctor.com and Jason Fung suggest its the latter.

My own figures came down from 90 to 44 in 5 months pure LCHF diet no medications, I have also come off one blood pressure medication so far.

I think in general it might be that metformin is not making as much difference as people think it is compared to the diet switch - the problem is that when you do both metformin and diet switch together you do not know how much of the effect is for either. I think my inclination would be to try not to be frightened of getting off the metformin and continue with the LCHF diet as early as possible - you can always go back onto it if necessary.

The other thing which my own experience shows is that whilst weight loss is hugely important, the diet can still get someone who seemed to be severely diabetic (i.e. me ! with my hba1Cof 90) back into the near normal range within a short space of time . My BMI is still 33 - so I have LOTS more weight still to lose to get into the normal range for weight.
