Ozempic shortage

Hi Everyone
New to this site and still finding my way around.

I was wondering if anyone has the same problem as me getting hold of Ozempic? My Doctor prescribed it to me about 6 months ago. I started on the 0.25 dose and then after a month went up to the 0.50 dose and again a month later onto the 1mg dose. I am so impressed with the effect it had on my Diabetes, bringing my sugar levels down considerably and reducing my Insulin intake by about 75%. My weight was reducing steadily (which had not happened for years) and I had no side effects whatsoever.

My Diabetic nurse now tells me that because of Kim Kardashian and the like it is no longer available. I am now taking Empagliflozin 10mg It is absolutely useless and does nothing for me except sends my sugar readings all over the place. I have had to double or more my Insulin intake again and the weight has all started coming back. I use a Libre 2 and now instead of nice steady readings between 5 and 8 I am getting anything between 7 and 17.

Is anyone else having the same problems or does anyone know of a pharmacy that can still supply Ozempic on prescription?

Hi, I’m on Ozempic 0.5mg, I did have trouble with my last prescription as Boots said it was unavailable and they didn’t know when they would have any coming in. Within a week they managed to get some.

Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
Have you considered switching to another GLP-1 agonist
There are a lot of other meds in this category other than Ozempic.
I am on Victosa which is a daily injection, but there are others like Trulicity, Bydureon
I have had success with Victosa and considering changing to Trulicity as a weekly injection instead of daily

I have got an appointment with my diabetic nurse next week so hope we can get some answers then. I will show her your suggestions also. Thank you.

Hi I was on ozempic my diabetes nurse said they are selling all the injections to the us. That’s why we have a shortage. Apparently it could go on for another year. She’s moved me on to bydureon I started it yesterday and my blood sugars are slowly going down. There are not any supply issue with this injection.

I was on ozempic 0.5 for the last few years keeps my sugars under control along with metformin have lost a couple of stone still got more to loose but better than it was when I started. Now out of stock the pharmacy said they have 0.25 in stock and I should speak to doctors to get prescription changed which I did but when I went to pick it up already out of stock as everyone else had done the same I will just have to hope the metformin keeps it controlled and I do not gain to much weight not looking forward to being hungry again
