Packed Lunch Box

Have you found any low carb soups in tins
rather than the chilled sort?
To be honest I haven't looked as I prefer the taste of most fresh soups - with the exception of Heinz tomato soup which I adore

You could do a low carb fritatta, as that can be eaten hot or cold.

If your salami crisps don't snap and crunch, they need zapping a little longer.
Cheers, I have only done them in the oven up until now but will try the microwave method.

The lowest I’ve found is Tesco cream of chicken soup, 1/2 a 400g tin is 5.6g carbs :hungry:

In the oven, lay the salami/chorizo slices on kitchen roll, to absorb the released fat. Give them just 30 seconds on your highest setting, then turn the slices over, and repeat the 30 seconds, but be very careful as the slices and run off fat will be extremely hot. From there, go for maybe 10-20 second increments and see how you get along.

My 1100w combi microwave takes about 90 seconds to read-to-eat-ness.

That they can be made on a whim, in under 2 minutes is a bonus and a curse. Hopefully, you'll find a timing that works for you. It's certainly better than paying over £2 a pack in M&S.

Thanks a lot, will try this tomorrow.

Hi everyone thanks for the ideas. I've not been on the site this week as unfortunately our cat has been poorly and in the vets. He had an operation today but it looks like cancer. Have to wait for the biopsy results.

Observation. I guess due to being upset and stressed and crying a lot I have felt quiet unusually dizzy and strange. Is this normal for diabetics? Can stress affect your blood sugar. I am not someone who normally tests it.

Pork scratchings are an acquired taste ... but my favourite snack nowadays is a variant called "Mr. Porky Crispy Strips." Tastes much better than traditional pork scratchings, I think. Carbohydrates per 20g serving 0.1g (it comes in 40g bags). Very salty, but that applies to all sorts of snacks, low-carb or not....

As good as crisps? Almost.

You might also consider nuts. They vary a lot in carb content, so it's worth checking first on the Diet Doctor site (https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/nuts).
What about us veggies?

I like Yorkshire Provender Cauliflower Soup with Fountains Gold Cheddar & Kale. 3.5 gms carb per 100 gms

I make veggie soup from various bits I find in my fridge. Add plenty of garlic, several finger chillis and a couple of new spuds for bulk. Delicious, get a flask to put it in for lunch on the hoof.

Aw, wish you all the best for your cat!
And yes, stress can affect bg, but the only way to find out is to test.

Hello. I am a community worker doing home visits so its rare that I am in the office
So I need a combination of office food and food that I can eat when I'm the car. I am so missing crisps.

I occasionally treat myself to Aldi Cheese Curls (their equivalent of Quavers)- 6.8g per bag (against Quavers 12g). Not the lowest of the low, but if I have them in the evening when my BG is at its lowest and most settled, I don't see a spike.

I love Pork Crunch (can't deal with the pork scratchings that are too...porky...or have softer elements to them), and those are my go-to as carbs are negligible. But sometimes I really fancy what feels like a proper packet of crisps and the Aldi ones scratch the itch.

Reminds me must get my soup maker out of the cupboard.
