I have had severe pain in my toes and feet for a few years now sometimes it's pins and needles sometimes they are completely numb and I can't feel them and most of they time they are just really painful. I barely sleep due to the pain I probably sleep for about 12 hours a week and it's killing me but the doctor and nurses say that's it just down to the diabetes and there's nothing that can be done about it I just have to accept it and put up with it. Is anyone else having the same problem and if yes are your medical team being more helpful than mine?

It sounds similar to my experience, which was peripheral neuropathy. Extreme pain, stabbing/tingling /burning,unable to sleep because of it etc. It's caused by elevated blood glucose levels doing damage to the long nerves.

Mine went away very quickly when I reduced my BG to normal levels. I still have a very mild residual tingle occasionally, which may well be permanent damage, but it's not pain.

I had similar pain, stabbing, etc, years ago. After I got my BG levels down, the pain went away. I now am having some tingling and a hot spot, and that worries me. I’m having it evaluated by a neurologist. There are medications and treatment for nerve pain. I’d explore it.

Strong smells, poor customer services, long queues, rubbish food, being fobbed off.
I had sore feet- especially certain toes once upon a time, must have been my levels being out of whack.

First port of call try get your levels better somehow......

Good luck !

Do you recall what kind of numbers you had when you had issues?

The severe pain in your toes may have a different cause to mine but I thought I tell you about mine, just in case it may be of help. My toes used hurt so much during the night that the only way I could get any sleep was to take strong painkillers. Having endured the excruciating pain for some 12 months, one morning one foot was red and swollen. I managed to see a GP face-to-face who said that she was so sure that it was gout the she would not take blood for diagnostic purpose. I took the tablets that she prescribed, which helped with that episode. I then looked up what foods to avoid to keep gout and that has been successful.

Good luck with getting rid of your pain.

I'd say from what I remember I think it was in the 11 to 16 range ?
