hi.

At night I'm constantly dizzy and always feel I'm gonna pass out.

I don't have a blood monitor so I can't tell if I'm high or low please help

Thanks

High and low blood sugar can both cause the symptoms you are experiencing. You need to get a meter to check your blood sugars. Until you can get a meter, you should eat/drink something with sugar whenever you feel like this. Since it always happens at night, try decreasing your dinnertime insulin, or eating a bigger dinner.

Out of luck I found a strip I check my sugars and they was 1.7. Thank god I found this strip otherwise I would of gone sleep and god knows what would of happened next. Thankyou for the response.

Hi @Coreylewis21 .. and welcome
Go to your doc or your local A&E today .. NOW .. they are the ones who can help you
If you can't make it use 999 (or 111) as soon as possible for the help that you need ..

Make an appointment for today if possible...or call NHS 24 (google for local number).

@Coreylewis21 it is probably your blood pressure being low and you are getting up to fast as I have had the same problem before and that is what the problem was and that is what you will be told that your blood pressure is low so the way to do it is pump your legs before you get up wether you are lying down or sitting down before you get up and you should be fine but it is just to get the pressure back up around your body and you can do what you want to do after that but you will have to watch as the pressure will drop again but with a few seconds rest and you will be fine just rest your head on your arms and you will be okay afterwards

@Jordi77 - @Coreylewis21 has already answered this one - his blood glucose level was very low (dangerously so) so while blood pressure can cause dizziness, it wasn't that in this case.

They are sky high sugars as I have had them but I forgot to take my meds and I also had a dka a few months ago and ended up in hospital and I just didn't take any meds for a few days as I was not well and you are going to the right place anyway to get it sorted out

@phdiabetic @AM1874 @pleinster @Jordi77 @tim2000s luckily the doctors I signed up to 2 days ago have let me have an emergency appointment, hopefully get this problem sorted as my sugars are 24.3 this morning....

Let us know how you get on. You said you didn't have a meter but then found a strip? Do make sure you get everything you need from the doctor today. It's impossible (and dangerous) to manage Type 1 without the essential tools of a meter and strips.

I hope you're ok and everything gets sorted ASAP.
