Plummeting between meals

Hello,

My boyfriends blood sugar was reasonably stable until recently where if he is not eating every four hours minimum he will drop 2 glucose levels within 15 minutes. For example he could be on 18mmol and within ten minutes drops to 16. His sugar seems to just plummet down really fast been struggling to the point he is keeping his sugar above 10 to avoid constant hypos because the rate it’s going down is so quick can drop four mmol in half an hour

Has he contacted his team about adjusting his insulin doses?
Basal or long acting insulin should ideally keep you stable when not eating. So if you need to eat to prevent hypo's something seems to be off with the dose.

Hi @PoppyElizabeth we aren't allowed to diagnose on the forums or give specific dosing advice, but I can make a comment which may apply to your partner's situation.

Newly diagnosed T1s often suffer from a honeymoon period where it's not unusual for their insulin needs to decrease dramatically for a while.

If he's not confident to alter his own doses then he really needs to contact his team urgently for advice.
