I think this means we now have proof that I'm not a wistar rat!I have found a study tht claims that plums are a cure for hypeglycemia. It was a study using wistar Rats

I am neither casting aspersions, nor dispensing assertions. rest assured I never thought that of anyone on this forumI think this means we now have proof that I'm not a wistar rat!
Smart bird, just eat half a plum and all will be well.As a coincidence I found a half eaten plum on my steps just now. Birds seem to like to use my roof for eating all sorts of things - plums, apples, rats.... and what's not eaten gets dropped.
Unless of course they've been following the discussion and decided that there's just too much fructose.
Unfortunately I couldn't complete my next plum test as I'm taking painkillers for arthritic hips which tend to knock me right out, and quite often this zonked out period means I'll miss a post meal test. Sometimes I really miss wearing a Libre, but at least I've still got my last 2 experimental plums to go.. And, errm, I can hopefully buy some more! That's absolutely amazing, and not unlike my incomplete experiment with dried plums a couple years back.
I'm having my fingers crossed for a similar result for me!
Please share your findings after you test! I'm curious as well.I have a plum tree and had a couple of plums from it the other evening. U-oh I thought, this is going to ruin my goal of getting my FBG in the 5s. I did the test the next morning and it was 5.8 which was a big surprise and yes I know it was a lot more that 2 hours after consuming the plums. I’m going to have a couple of plums tomorrow now and do a test before and then 2 hours later. I’m curious
I'm sorry to hear about your hip, hopefully it will be a bit better today.Unfortunately I couldn't complete my next plum test as I'm taking painkillers for arthritic hips which tend to knock me right out, and quite often this zonked out period means I'll miss a post meal test. That is absolutely amazing, so there might be actually something to this, if no for everyone!@Antje77: Would you believe, again after eating very little else and just one plum this time:
pre meal:6.9
post meal:6.8
I'm beginning to think that there's a cheeky Sugar Plum Fairy somewhere having a bit of fun at my expense!![]()
Highly misleading. It should read will “raise it less” than other foods might. To my knowledge there isn’t a single food item that actively lowers blood glucose. But saying that, the idea that high-carbohyrdrate food of any kind can help lower your blood glucoe - what a hoot!
Yep. Hardly ever discussed how more than small amount of fructose contribute to a fatty liver (and in turn insulin resistance and maybe type 2). We evolved to eat seasonal (much less sweet) fruits precisely to fatten up for the winter when food was harder to come by so we could burn that body fat as fuel instead (which sounds like ketosis to me……)And there is that double whammy of effect that fruit has - with fructose and sucrose
No - unfortunately they're just plain anonymous "Ripe and ready" plums from Ocado...
