Possible night time hypos?

Hi, looking for any help or advice. I think i am having night time hypos but am not 100% sure. I wake up almost every day with the covers saturated in sweat and always wake very tired, never rested. My BG is fine when i wake but rockets up over the next hour or so, the doctors have said it is dawn phenomenum but i was wondering if a hypo during the night would make my sugars dramatically increase in the morning? It would also explain the excessive sweating and tiredness.
I am 4 years diagnosed and had this problem the whole time. I have tried checking my BG during the night (about 2am) and it is usually a bit higher than when i went to bed so i have discounted night time hypos but am now looking at any possibility. 4 years of waking up sweaty and tired is 4 years too many lol
I have completed Dafne and am trying to use the logic from that to work out my correct background but im honestly just getting my self confused :-(
Any advice at all would be appreciated. thank you

Hi

The night sweats could be caused by a number of things. You might want to have your testosterone levels checked as low levels could be the problem.

Hope this helps

Don't forget to get your thyroid checked out - this helps control body heat. Many people who have diabetes also have thyroid problems.

Just to rule out hypo's you should test your bg for a couple of nights, try setting your meter alarm for 2am & 5am, checking at just 2am is no good if you are going hypo 3 or 4 hours later before you awake.

I agree with Noblehead, 1 reading at 2am is not enough. Bit of a pain but I would test every hour. It does sound like a nightime hypo and the increase in levels upon waking is the body's natural defence by releasing glucogen. Could be something else but certainly discount the obvious first.
