Does anyone know whether symlin (pramlintide) is available In the UK or if there are plans to make it available?

It's available in America and it's a synthetic form of amylin, a hormone produced in beta cells alongside insulin, so it seems like people with type 1 would be deficient in it. It's supposed to prevent blood sugar going high after meals and help you feel full and avoid snacking. Sounds handy!

Any ideas?
Thanks!

As far as we are aware this drug is not available in the UK. We know of no plans to licence it here.
All the information about it is from the USA. Freely available on the net. As stated it appears to be for use in conjunction with Insulin so would be available to T1 and T2 alike.

There is a warning for this drug:
WARNING
SYMLIN is used with insulin and has been associated with an increased risk of insulin induced severe hypoglycemia, particularly in patients with type 1 diabetes. When severe hypoglycemia associated with SYMLIN use occurs, it is seen within 3 hours following a SYMLIN injection. If severe hypoglycemia occurs while operating a motor vehicle, heavy machinery, or while engaging in other high-risk activities, serious injuries may occur. Appropriate patient selection, careful patient instruction, and insulin dose adjustments are critical elements for reducing this risk.

Isn't that the same warning given with Insulin though?!
