Hi all on this forum,
I am an over 60 male who, some time ago, was warned by GP of a propensity for developing diabetis due to raised blood sugar levels. Over the past 18months have had a number of issues and have stopped exercise etc. Have been feeling increasingly lethargic, lacking motivation depressed etc. Have a persistently iitching crotch and intense almost cramping need to urinate particularly early 4/5 in the morning, waking from sleep to evacuate.Through partner have access to test strips and recently started monitoring blood sugar: first two tests were reassuringly at 5.3 but subsequent two were 7.2- this morning I tested for the first time before eating was 6.3. I am thinking that I maybe moving from prediabetic to type 2 and trying to summon up the motivation to accept this and manage it- feels onerous, any ideas .....

Only your GP can answer that .... you need an HBaA1C test to confirm. The numbers don't look that bad to me ... but again, we cannot offer advice in areas where we're not qualified. Get that done and then we can take it from there. Meanwhile. up that exercise and get those other issues checked out. Please :)

Best of luck :) Mike

Hello ianho welcome to the forum
Going by your list of symptoms it does look like you have moved on from pre diabetic. The first thing you need to do is make an appointment with your doctor, only he/she can give you a diagnosis.

Hi @ianho , welcome. Yes get yourself properly diagnosed, but don't panic T2 is a condition that can frequently be managed successfully with diet and little (or even no) medication, especially given the results you have stated. Cutting out carbohydrates significantly (as well as obvious sugars) is the key.

Have a read of the items in my signature below and ask any questions. Forewarned is forearmed!

The test readings don't seem bad but the other symptoms may be see the doctor and get them checked out
Good luck JJ

Hi and welcome. Yes, those figures put you into a grey area and an HBa1C test would help. In the meantime try to do some exercise and watch the carbs in your diet
