Hi new here. Steve I’ve been T1 since 2012. I would like to know more about pro pump hospitals in my area (South Somerset) as I have been told by my hospital that I’m not likely to get a pump this year. I have been informed that if I request to get referred to a different hospital I could get the pump I need? Can anyone assist?

Hi Steve, unfortunately due to a lack of funds this is the same situation in many areas, that combined with the pecking order can make it incredibly hard for some t1d's to get access to a pump, it's best to get advice from your DSN on this and see what suggestions they have with alternative hospitals.

Your GP can refer you to a different diabetic team at a different trust but they might have the same problems as your local trust. Even if they have the kit you want, all your diabetic care will from then on be delivered by that team - this could be a problem for travel, access etc.

Hi @Steve White and welcome to the forum.
As well as lack of funds for new pumps, it could also be because the hospital hasn't got any diabetes team staff who have time to train new pump users (apart from the ones they're already seeing). Many of us had to wait years to get on a pump unfortunately.
I'd suggest you ask your present team if you will get one in the next financial year, so you have some idea of where you are in their system.

Strangely, I’m on the border drifting between Wiltshire HC & BANES?
I’m told they got the funding. But not the staff…
