Thanks for that as rule I don't drink but just fancied something differentSpirits aren’t normally too bad in moderation. Mixers you need to be careful about the carbs and be sure you are happy with any sweetener used.
Alcohols can sometimes trick you into thinking all is good because the liver deals with this (poison!) first and not any carbs you eat. So levels look lower than they should. But it does catch up with you later so be aware of getting the munchies if drinking.
I am going to take it very very easy and will probably only have one drink as I really haven't had a drink for years. I am no longer a party animal like I was in my teens lolAfter 5 years low carbing I drink fizzy water with lime juice as otherwise I am reeling - alcohol affects me even faster than normal these days and I could never drink much at any time.
I may well give that a go as I don't want a hangover from a small drink and an effect on my bgIf it appeals, you can add a slice of lemon, cucumber or ginger to your gin, all of which are lower-carb than tonic. As you haven't taken alcohol in a while, and are a light drinker anyway, fizzy water might be acceptable too.
Of course - just for scientific knowledge! However that's exactly what my dad at 70 and it did not end well on the floor! He had taken his medication and ended up having quite a few mini bottles. He was murmuring and we thought he had had a stroke but it was just the fact he was - well you can imagine!I’m very tempted to try the various gins in my cupboard and test, just for scientific knowledge mind!
So cruel! I could try one a night! My cupboards do contain a fair amount of different gins, prosecco is also one of my go to drinks, but nowadays I’m a lightweight. Anyone know how long an open bottle of gin can stay in cupboard before chucking?Of course - just for scientific knowledge! I gave him a right telling off!
