Probiotic helping glucose levels

I have just seen an article about the possibility of a probiotic pill helping to reduce glucose levels. I was wondering if anyone else new anything about this? Also wondered if probiotic products like yogurt were known to help reduce levels? Live yogurt is well know for helping yeast infections and maintaining a healthy gut. I eat loads of it. Anyone know any more about its benefits for diabetes?

Hi. Was just reading ur posts and I didn't know that yogurt helped with yeast infections as well. But thanks to ur post as well I learned that is good for the gut too and I am going to start eating more yogurts. But is there any yogurt in particular. Plain yogurts or any yogurt?

Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
There is no clear scientific evidence that taking probiotic pills or eating yoghurt can treat yeast infections in any part of the body or are effective in maintaining a "healthy gut", however that is defined. I am not aware of any evidence for the effect of probiotics on BG levels. I am not sure by what mechanism probiotics would do this. If somebody claims that probiotics has an effect on BG levels, I would like to ask them what kind of evidence they have to support the claim.

Go for plain because fruit ones have an amazing amount of sugar in them usually.
Four teaspoons per average sized pot?
I make my own.
Boil some milk cool it to knuckle warmth.
Gently stir in a teaspoon of live full fat plain yoghurt and put in a container in a warm place .... old fashioned airing cupboard here with hot water tank in it.
Twenty four hours later you have tasty fresh healthy yoghurt.
Our garden has produced loads of strawberries this year so that's what I'm putting in my yogs.

I always make sure to look at the label, its very interesting as you are sometimes surprised. A good way to test the effectiveness of yoghurt on BS levels would be to stop eating all yoghurt for a couple of weeks at least, test your BS levels and then start eating it again and see if there is any difference.

Yoghurt contains less carbs than milk, because the lactose has been processed by the bacteria. I drink a bit of home made kefir every day and believe it is good for me.
