I saw this article yesterday and found the whole issue (intellectual property) interesting. I'm pleased he got this awarded, allbeit somewhat late

The test strips are such an advantage and have since been developed further to include many other diagnostic testing.

I never knew about Prof Shanks until I read the BBC site yesterday and think this man deserves recognition from the Queen for his services to the healthcare industry, an incredible story and a true hero, if he hadn't been working for Unilever then he would of got this recognition years ago, they played very unfairly in this story, glad he's got justice.
