Protein Shake or not

Hi all,
Wondered if you could help me, I bought a diet meal replacement protein shake before I found out that I had diabetes 4 weeks ago. Just wondered if I can still have it or steer clear? Any help would be great, thanks.

25g carb/100g is quite high and the pack says a serving is 54g which doesn’t seem very realistic if it’s a liquid shake, so you could end up with quite a ‘hit’ in terms of carbs.

Personally I’d steer clear, but do you have a meter so you can test the impact on your blood sugars? That’s really the only way to see whether a food is ‘safe’ for you.
 
Hi, I personally would stay clear - the ones I got were full to the brim of carbs and sugars. My bg went haywire.

Yes I have a meter, so could check it. But yes the 100g has a big hit on carbs. May try a 75g and see if it is filling enough and what happens to my BG.
 
Definitely not cos not really bothered about the carbs being type 1 they just taste like #@##
 
I would get protein from animal foods, shakes taste nice but are not required.
 
Toss it, I use whey isolate, lactose free, usually less than 3grams of carbs per serving. I make smoothies, just had a coconut, avocado, whey smoothie. Yummy!
