Hey I go on my weeks pump course on the 4th of November (woohoo) my works been good with sorting time out but needing to take 2 days as holiday which I didn't want to do, and have no time off the following week,

I'm not sure when I'll go 'live' with insulin in pump and as far as I'm aware there LOTS of testing those first initial weeks to get basal rates ect, should say I get pump on 25th oct with saline in reasons? What do you think, do I need to use holidays even though it's for medical reasons. Any advice or experience would be great

I think it's down to company discretion. When I went onto the pump, I went live straight away and it was only a day course, which work allowed me to book as sick leave.

Have you asked to take it as sick leave?

Your employers are required to allow you time off for medical appts etc. This is stated in The Equality Act. They are not, however, required to pay you for this. Many do but that is down to their discretion. Why not book a few days leave, just in case. I you get the hang of things quickly, just cancel leave ? Good luck with pump.

My work are happy to juggle shifts ect for me, I'm going to work the Sunday do course min-Friday and bk to work Saturday, so it's only 2.5 days in needing off but suppose I grudge having to use holidays, I'm sure it will be fine just bit apprehensive of all testing ect
