Pump
hey guys, in a couple months im going back onto injections in a few months for a ‘pump holiday’ and will be using injections again for about two months, I have been on a pump for three years (I was on injections for one, has anyone else done this? im frightened I’ll hate it and want to go back straight away?

Hello and welcome @typeonejess - Firstly would you like this moved to the insulin pump section for better visibility ?

Can you elaborate further as to why you are taking a pump holiday ?

I have been on a pump just over 2 years now and wouldn't consider injections again unless it was absolutely necessary, it's took a while to reach a point where my levels were pretty stable and I exercise alot so the pump is flexible for this, it also takes alot of effort out of multiple injections/calculations etc and has helped reduce my anxiety with the constant effort required, I would also hate 'losing control' whilst adjusting back to injections again. I appreciate it's worked for me but not necessarily right for others so would be interested to learn why you want a pump holiday.

I think if you are going to come off it then you are doing so for a reason, so its good your doing what you think is right, so don't beat yourself up about it....

there could be many reasons people need a break and its not that uncommon.....

you will know pretty quickly whether the break was welcome or not.....best of luck....

I have been using my pump for 2 years.
I am not a big fan of it aesthetically, but, like @Juicyj , I find it incredibly useful for exercise.

I am intrigued why you are planning a pump holiday.
Is this something that has been suggested to you or something you have asked to do?

The closest I came to having a break from my pump was when a crack appeared in the casing. Thankfully, a replacement arrived within 24 hours so I stuck with it.
But this would have been an emergency rather than something I planned for 2 months time.

I have only done an enforced pump holiday and did enjoy not being connected safe in the knowledge I would be re connected after a weekend but do find that when I am 'on it' I get better results with the fine tuning a pump allows. Maybe you just have the wrong pump or should not have been offered a pump in the first place? Time for a long hard think about why for you the advantages are so outweighed by the disadvantages. Be interested to know how you see it though as most people here who object to the idea of the pump are those who haven't tried it.
