Can someone tell me the carbs per 100g of Coconut flour - the packet I've just bought doesn't have any info.

It may depend on your brand, but a generic coconut flour is per 100g:

Calories 410
carbs 65
Fiber 0
Protein 19
Sugar 8
Fat 9

Hope this helps.

Really - 65g per 100g - are you sure? Why would it be in so many low carb recipes then ?

I'll check another generic brand.

Second brand (Health reflections) came up the same.

Third brand (nui) the same. All 65g. It is down to the fact you don't use a lot of flour, and then when what ever you bake is cooked, it is portioned off, so less again.

[edit to add]

Just as a comparison I did 100g Sainsbury's self raising flour 76g of carbs and Sainsbury's plain flour 100g 78g of carbs.

Hi. I use Tiana brand of Coconut flour , and it has 21.7g carb per 100g of flour. As others have said you tend to use very little flour in any recipy. My favourite is cheese and bacon muffins. 1.8g per muffin.

Have a look on Tiana web site. They have alot of recipies. Be careful some do have added sugar or honey

Swimmer, the net carbs of coconut flour are way lower than other flours (so carbs minus fibre = net carbs)

2 tablespoons flour (15gms) = 10.5 net carbs
2 tablespoons coconut flour (15gms) = 3.9 net carbs

100g of coconut flour:
Protein - 17.4g
Fat, total - 15.1g
Fat saturated - 14g
Carbohydrate - 59.3g
Sugars - 6.8g
Fibre - 37.6g

Net carbs 21.7g per 100g

I use 50g in one of my muffin recipes, makes the CO flour component .90g per muffin

What a dur I am today. Just had a look at my own coconut flour and like you mine is Tiana and is 21.7g carbs. I am going to check if the web site I used for the above figures has Tiana, as the others are high compared to it.

I need a rocket up my a** today I think.

[edit to add]

Yes it does have Tiana, but in my defense T is a long way after G(eneric) in the alphabet

Thanks for all the feedback - I used 1 tbsp in a waffle recipe this evening which worked really well and so far my numbers don't seem to bad.

Well my numbers were a spike at 8.4 after 1 hr and then down to 7.2 at 2 hrs, but I did have a bit of sweet potato with the meal and red fruit with the waffle.

So all in all a useful experiment. I think next time I'll try having it for breakfast with a bit of bacon.

EDIT:
I have just weighed the amount of Coconut Flour the recipe uses and it was 5g in weight - so using Ian's numbers that's 1.3g carb, which I am sure is fine. There are no other carbs in the ingredients - so I'm going to blame the sweet potato and red fruit for the slightly raised number.
Great - I have another desert :D

Quick question - but slow answer!

I buy my ccn flour from Indian shops & don't always have food analysis on the packet.

I've just seen detail on the "East End" brand:
per 100 g
604 kcals
protein 5.6 g
carb 6.4 g
fat 62 g
that leaves fibre 26 g

There is obviously a difference in whether the 'flour' has been defatted. Dessicated coconut has the analysis:
Serving Size 1 oz

Amount Per Serving
Calories from Fat 165 Calories 187

Total Fat 18.29g
Saturated Fat 16.221g
Polyunsaturated Fat 0.2g
Monounsaturated Fat 0.778g
Cholesterol 0 mg
Sodium 10 mg
Potassium 154 mg
Total Carbohydrate 6.7g
Dietary Fiber 4.6g
Sugars 2.08g
Protein 1.95g

Per 100 g
kcals 636
fat 65 g
protein 7 g
carb 7 g (total 23 g)
fibre 16 g

That is quite a drop in carb grams per 100g of C flour. Could you PM me the brand and perhaps where I could get it? We have no Asian shops locally, the nearest would be in the city where I rarely travel unless absolutely forced. If I knew the brand I could look on line.

Thanks Ian.

"East End" Coconut Flour. Get mine at £3.49 for the 800gram pack in an Indian/Asian supermarket on Cheltenham High Street.

The nutritional info given above is what I've got on my pack. 6.4 grams carb per 100 grams... and 62 grams fat per 100 grams
