Hello Everyone, I need some advise on maintaining my current weight, 57kgs, I do not want to loose anymore. Does anyone have any advise?
I really do not want to eat Carbs , what else is available? Thanks.

It might help too if you told us what you eat/what sort of diet you're on - but you
could maybe try adding a little more fat.and/or protein. There are low carb nutritional calculators online which will help you work out what proportions of carbs, fats, and protein you need to lose or maintain weight.

Like @Gaija, I found that after losing weight I reached a point where what I was eating ended up being enough to maintain my reduced weight.

Where does your 57kg put you on the BMI scale, and what do you enjoy eating? The only reason I ask is it would influence the suggestions I might make.

I found finding the balance point weight-loss >maintenance a real challenge, as I continued to lose weight at first, so I do empathise with you.

Hi AndBreathe, My current BMI is 21.7 in the normal weight. My doctor said I should not loose anymore weight, waist measurement is now 31 inches.

Hi Robbity, I am currently on LCHF diet for 4 months, lost 11 kgs. Breakfast is Bulletproof coffee, lunch is chicken pieces with green salad, olive oil, half mango, tea time , cream cheese with Jatz biscuits (5-6), dinner can be pork chop or 3 mini quiche with greens and avocardo. Dessert - Greek yoghurt with berries.

OK. So, you're already pretty trim.

The only thing I should have asked earlier is how fat you are still losing, or have been losing? Clearly that influences how much you need to do to find balance. I had a real nervousness for the potential for a yo-yo scenarion, where I lost > gained > lost > gained, which would be nightmare.

Apologies for all the questions!

Hi. When you reduce the carbs it's important to increase the protein and fats to make you feel full and to provide a good range of nutrients and fibre. You should find your weight and blood sugar should stabilise now. If your weight continues to drop and the blood sugar remains too high then Late onset T1 becomes a possibility rather than T2 but hopefully all will be well.

Hi Daibell, My Blood sugar has been stable for a while now, ranging from 4.9-5.3 , fasting. What I am asking is I want to find a balance between remaining at my current weight of 57 kgs but not loosing anymore.

My nutrition ranges from Green leafy veggies like spinach and kale, my protein range from salmon to chicken to eggs and other meat, and my fats are from olive oil, coconut oil, organic butter, cheeses, and nuts. What else do I have to add? Fruits and beans?

I find halting weight loss a heck of a lot easier than losing - what can I say, i am blessed! ;)

Upping protein is a tried and tested method. Slightly bigger portions, or adding in an egg at brekkie...
Also snacking on mixed fat and protein. Pate, nuts, cheese...
Swapping your yog for cream on the berries could help too.

I also made chicken liver pate last week. Have to make some more. I am thinking of making cheesecake from Diabetic cookbook.

I did add some extra carbs, I found half a Lidl roll added to my salad lunch helped and didn't seem to affect my blood sugars. But I am still struggling as my BMI is now under 20. I do try to eat more veg and a bit more protein but am concerned about increasing fats even higher. I know you said you didn't want to increase carbs so it then has to be protein or fats, maybe a bit more of both would help.

I'm nowhere near maintenance yet (about halfway there), but I'm dreading maintenance - because I've got a carb cap and a protein target. The only thing I can increase is fats - which (1) I find mostly unpalatable - except when paired with bread or sugar (I'm having trouble eating up to the calorie deficit I'm currently maintaining.)and (2) adds calories without micro-nutrients - and I'm already concerned about how much of that I'm doing.

That said, I've been making a mental list of things I do enjoy that are higher in fat that I could eat more of (full fat salad dressing, & thai curries come to mind). I'm also hoping that once my weight is where it ought to be that my insulin resistance will be a bit less and my carb tolerance will be a bit higher. That would certainly make maintenance easier.

Good luck!

The thing is, some of us a have been surprised how much we need to add in, and others how little they need to add in.

My only comment of this, aside from the fact that @Brunneria 's suggestions of upping portions, then adding fats are pretty much how I did it. However, in my view, this has to be a controlled phase too.

I started by increasing my portions by a modest percentage, then maintaining that for at least a week; longer where it looked like it was working. When I moved on further and added cheese, I did it by adding a standard portion (in my case that was a Babybel cheese), then when that didn't work, a portion of nuts, which I measure by the eggcup full. That way I could understand exactly what I needed to do, then I could make adjustments to my wider diet.

I confess to being a complete data addict and no longer portion out like this (life's too short, long term), and maintain easily, under normal circumstances.

Good luck with it all.
