Reactive Hypoglycaemia

Are you pulling my leg about fasting?
What is the advantage, if you are!

No, I'm not mate!
I realised quite a while ago, after my 72 (80) hour fasting, that my bloods stay in normal range if I don't eat! As proved by my stay in hospital, there isn't a reason why not! I never fast on a working day but like today, I am having a fasting day.
It also gives me a rest from the almost constant eating throughout the day.
It gives my pancreas and liver a day off, it also helps with my weight loss.
Once I start eating at breakfast, I have to keep eating through the day and regularly topping up with low carb meals.
And it saves money, more importantly!:):rolleyes:
 
I envy @nosher8355 his ability to fast.

I find that if I fast in the mornings, I will crash into a hypo sometime before lunch, or after physical exertion. UNLESS I eat fat. So my version of fasting is a Fat Fast, I can get the benefits of fasting by avoiding protein and carbs, while eating fat (usually in the form of coffee with cream).

That is my standard breakfast nowadays - coffee with a nice large glug of double cream - and I have rock solid BGs until I eat. I can go all day on this, if I keep drinking the coffeencream.
 
I also have a fat fast as well! If I'm inclined!
But mine is regular doses of Greek yoghurt!

That's interesting!
I had to give up yog - too many carbs.
Although I can sneak some in at the end of my evening meal. It just doesn't work for breakfast. :(

I only have a desert spoonful to appease my growling stomach.
At breakfast, I usually have about a cup full with some berries, that tides me over till mid morning even if I I'm working.

Don't forget, I can't go overboard with my plate size, the smaller the better, to get through the day!

I think it is more to do with my Dawn Phenomenon.
If I eat any carbs at all, in the morning, they act on top of my DP, and trigger a reactive hypo.
I seem to get away with protein (like egg and bacon, with fat) but not yog.
Go figure, eh?
We just have to work with the hand we are dealt. Lol

I believe that this condition is so intrinsically interesting. It can get on top of you if you don't watch what they try and give you, I was offered something yesterday that was supposed to be carb free, and just protein! Not so!
I dodged that one!
I always take my bites to eat myself and only eat things that I know are ok!
The local hostelry serves diet coke, but it's syrup! They got me once, it won't happen again!
You are right, it can dominate your life, if you let it, planning future meals is the key.
And also take into account, how long you're out of the house and where you're eating!
Can be a nightmare, going on a long trip for the footie!

You bad lad!

If you are going to have a pie, take the crust off!

If you are still high before going into hypo eat something low carb every couple of hours to prevent the yo yo effect!
Or go for a walk, for about half an hour!

Take it easy, leave the baddies alone!

You'll get it soon!

I was 7.6 after another 30mins (at +90mins) it was dropping like a stone. I went to an art class and cushioned my self with sliced apple.

It sounds like protective insurance or is it damage limitations?

Hi all My Body reacts not to all carbs bad! Might has to do with the 2 different carbs type!!! Have to try the Greek yoghurt for breakfast :-).

Yes, we are all different, some fruits don't affect me at all!:confused::dead:

Hey Nosher how are u keeping? have been by the endo, he thinks that my low blood sugar isn't the case of the other symptoms. That something is casing low blood sugar and the other symptoms. That's why my bs are so unpredictable! Know I have to wait....and hope they find the case of all that. What I ment was with refind or complex carbs!?!

I'm brilliant, busy and fit, no hypers, no hypos, it's going well!

Refined and complex carbs, they are the same to me! Baddies!

I'd rather not have any of them!

When and what are your tests?
