So after having a slight breakdown today, I have just got the results of my A1c. My first was taken 2/10/23 and was 109, my second was 4/1/24 and its down to 68 so I'm pretty happy about that! I'm right to be happy about that right?

But I do have high cholesterol which sucks but I have already moved into the next phase of refiguring my diet to contain less saturated fat and upping my exercise so I'm really hoping that makes a difference.

If anyone has any hacks for lowering cholesterol while still enjoying life I'm all ears!

Excellent work! Keep in mind that cholesterol motors fats around the bloodstream... So when you're losing weight because you've started a new diet, cholesterol might rise for a bit as it is moving fats out of your body. I don't know what you consider high, but if you're not seeing double digits, I wouldn't worry overmuch about it just yet.

But, yeah... Every right to be happy. :) Yay, you!!!!

That's good to know! I don't know the number I haven't spoken to the Doc yet I just know it's been flagged as high. They weren't going to test for cholesterol as they saw no reason to but I pushed for it as I didn't want to be blindsided by that later down the line.

I was feeling pretty despondent so I'm glad to see everything has been worth it so far!

Good result!

Around 80% of your cholesterol you make yourself. I am not at all bothered about my cholesterol. Having said that, mine fell (after a slight inital rise) on a keto - and therefore sat fat - diet. If you're interested in a UK medical view contrary to the current received wisdom, you might look out for Dr Malcolm Kendrick's "The Clot Thickens".

In truth, I have found that whether I take the test fasted or not has a much bigger impact on the result than anything else. If I want a lower reading, I do a 16-18 hour fast beforehand.

Thanks I will check that out!
