I do not have diabetes
I have worked with a doctor to find out that I am not diabetic, but my A1c has been rising .2% each year. I am eating relatively low carb, around 100g a day of complex carbs, zero sugars.

I am doing some running every other day. However, it seems this is not enough to guarantee the prevention of increasing problem.

Things I have seen people do: practice intermittent fasting, 16:8, some claim berberine is useful or might be as good as metformin.

I have non-diabetic A1c for now, but would like to see if I can reduce the problem via the above means.

Anyone has experience and can share whether any of this is snake oil ?

Just to clarify, your doctor/lab tests show a yearly increase of 0.2% in HbA1c?

Yeah, I have also noticed that my post meal spikes are lasting longer than it should. The doctor basically said, just like an endo last year, that it is insulin resistance, and I would see steady increase over the next 5-10 years into diabetic range without any interventions.

May I ask what the last two x yearly HbA1c results were?

It is said that some people can have a low measure of IR without going on to develope Pre Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes.

3 years ago 4.9%, 2 years ago 5.2%, last year December 5.3%, This year 1 week ago 5.4%

To be honest I think that you are doing everything you can to guard against insulin resistance by lowering your carb intake and excercising. There is one area that you may like to work on and that is stress/anxiety levels.

I do. My levels of anxiety have reduced significantly thanks to my excellent doctor. I worked with her for the last 8 months. My sleep is exponentially better, I don't have as many bad thoughts and tension is mostly gone from my body. I am just interested in improving my biomarkers mostly for longevity on this ball of earth. I like it here ;)

Overall, I am willing to experiment and update if I notice improvements in glucose tolerance. Mind you, if I eat a banana, I go to 10 mmol/l + and stay there for like 2 hours. Hence, I mostly avoid fast carbs because those spikes ruin my whole day feeling like ****.

You could try reducing your carbs further perhaps?

I have felt lack of energy and had bad bowel movements on ketogenic diet. I feel better on 100g of carbs, mostly from beans, peas, carrots. I think it is worth it because I am much better on this diet than I did on ketogenic for a year. Quality of life is a high priority for me as well.

What were you eating on your keto diet? Lack of energy is not normally associated with this way of eating if you are doing it properly, in fact, just the opposite.

And how long did you last on it? Some settling in is to be expected but doesn’t usually last long if taking the appropriate actions
