12,350 everybody at work ( who sees me walking and losing weight, asks me if I’m feeling better for it, NO, the answer is NO. I probably feel worse than I ever remember feeling on a consistent basis. One day fellow exercisers, one day I’m sure it will suddenly happen. Ever hopeful.
Most of those steps had been up and down the stepladder dealing with the Hedge of Doom.
!
Excellent well done. I do about the same more or less and keep log, in another way I break it down i.e.This is a thread where those of us who are not Ironman-ready or triathletes or any other kind of sports superstar can log our more moderate achievements and encourage each other.
I was a very keen sportswoman when I was younger but have really let it slide and these days all I want to do is make my exercise more regular. I have also spoken to/messaged other women on this forum who have similar intentions but we are a bit overawed by our (wonderful, and mostly male) diabetic overachievers. My own exercise habits go in fits and starts, so I plan to log all my moderate boring stuff here in the hope that writing it down will make me do it more often.
First of all: today I walked briskly for approximately 90 minutes!
Not an actual log but a question since I always told students to ask if they were not understanding however dumb it seemed.
I am coming to the end of the 6 month testing cycle and looking for lifestyle tweaks for next cycle. Purist Keto with 20 gms carb will not deliver me enough fibre, veg or fruit to make me happy I am looking after myself. My simple solution is to go for 30-40 gms carbs and balance with exercise. My question is about walking.
Only under quite rarefied conditions can I manage the 100 steps per minute often regarded as moderate. Am I right in thinking heart rate is a better guide for effort / intensity and going for a 60-80% max will deliver good exercise and ignore pace unless the medics come up with solutions to whatever is causing the pace problems?
Hope that all make sense and doesn't waste your valuable time
@flexi06 That is not paltry it is good, especially if it represents the best you could manage. I can't run as far and fast as Mo Farah or lift weights like some on here. Provided I have pushed myself as far as I can that is good enough for me. You have come from a pretty sedentary lifestyle, from what I can gather, so this is all new and you will feel obliged to do more. Think back a few months - have you done more today? If so relax and feel good.Only marginally less paltry 10,200 steps today
