Regular moderate exercise log

Pathetic amount of steps (around 3k again) and exercise in general. It’s getting me down but I can’t do much about it.

Played with grandchildren indoors all day as it was raining and dog still poorly and lame so we couldn’t go out.
The good thing about playing with little children is they take everything in their stride, so when I stood up every now again and did some squats as we played with their toy zoo, they just accepted it.

@DJC3 What can't be cured must be endured :angelic: Time with grandchildren is a time limited blessing so bg is nowhere in that equation. As long as you are doing the best you can to cap the rise it's all gravy:)

You are most welcome. Enjoy those girls of yours and their young ones and promise me you will never quote my worrds/advice back at me. It only applies to other people. I am a special case:angelic:

Haha no I can’t promise anything, I’ll probably be quoting it back to you tomorrow!

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping that posting here every day will help keep me motivated.

I lost a lot of muscle mass through illness last year (not diabetes related) and am having the devil’s own job trying to put it back.

@ianpspurs has gently egged me on and though it’s still early days I am already noticing benefits in better bg. ( esp fbg) so I’ve tagged along, hoping I can keep up.

This morning I’ve done 20mins moderate exercise on my static bike, then after a cup of tea took the dog for a 40min amble around the common. This is only around 3,000 steps and involves a lot of waiting around so hardly deserves to be put in the same category as exercise.
I will walk more and always manage 10k steps as a baseline, but I don’t walk very fast.
I try to do 10mins Hiit on my cycle before bed too. Will have to post that the following day.

@ickihun nice to see you here and glad you are getting to the pool, hope your little one recovers soon.

This is very good

Yes. We did get swimming but since I've been unable to walk so just back from GP who has changed me to dihydrocodeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen. Also MSK have advised my pregabalin to be doubled up. Soooo I'm hoping to go back Saturday with boys. With walking being less painful. I've only taken one new tablet but I'm pinning so much on it to take my horrendous walking pain away.
I loved my few yards of swimming. I'm in my happiest, in a pool.
I only took 11yr old last time but will have 5yr old monkey to help with his new armbands and goggles this time. Mr ickihun will be in tow too. Phew! I'm exhausted just thinging about the changing room fiasco.. to come. Ha ha
I love swimming. My fav. :) :) :)
And me love swim

@flexi06 That is not paltry it is good, especially if it represents the best you could manage. I can't run as far and fast as Mo Farah or lift weights like some on here. Provided I have pushed myself as far as I can that is good enough for me. You have come from a pretty sedentary lifestyle, from what I can gather, so this is all new and you will feel obliged to do more. Think back a few months - have you done more today? If so relax and feel good.

Oh Ianp, I had a cursory glance at this post while running out the door to walk with my boyf to work and totally misread. Amazing how we see what we think sometimes and not actually what is there. I read it as a gentle telling off - I missed some words and added a couple- perhaps I was actually telling myself off and my brain used your post as a tool- anyway it spurred me on this morning- I said to my boyf- ahh he’s trying to push me gently to do more and so I did. When I reread after I get back from a brisk 6,500- I felt sick and shattered - it was lovely and comforting to reread your supportive post. I respond better to kindness and your post was just what I needed. Thanks sweetie x

Oh boy, having failed in my initial intention to have a few rest days at the beginning of the week, (because I was too antsy and aware of Things What Needed Doing) my body totally rebelled with the most sudden, embarrassing, public projectile vomiting episode...

I can only be utterly grateful it was not, as I originally feared, a major hypo episode, that the staff in the place where I was visiting took it all in their stride, especially when I told them I was insulin dependent and thought it was a hypo, supplied me with extra carrier bags for the things which had suffered, wet wipes for the walking boots, (which will get a good scrub when I'm feeling up to it,) and even didn't flinch when I had to go back and admit bus pass and train tickets were still in the bag I'd ditched as it had suffered most, and could I please rescue them? Because, of course, this would happen away from home, but in a place I visit regularly!!

Having toddled very gently along the road to collect the latest prescription and more full sugar drinks (as I'm off my food) I promise to stay put, re-hydrate and test regularly until all is well again. Also will take the next few days gently and ignore the nagging of Mr Doofer!

Japes, I am not sure a cyber hug covers what I feel for your situation. Full of admiration for your stoicism and willingness to retell your horrific episode. Anyhow, best I can do so look after yourself and my best wishes and prayers are with you.

I did yesterday today as my bloods were see-sawing a lot bit, so a back session, (after standard warm up) pull downs starting at 70kg working up to the stack (90kg) x 4, deadlifts from 60kg x 12 to 12kg x3 in 10kg increases, seated cable rows, bent over rows with an EZ bar and finished off on an assisted pull up machine doing assisted pull ups :p.

Cyber hugs, best wishes and prayers all very acceptable, thank you!

A first tentative attempt at food has been successful so far.

Oh Japes you poor little soul- how awful. Rest and take good care of yourself xx

Struggling the best I can to contain my bg to reasonably sensible limits. Today I tried to work a little harder but couldn't say I saw any results - guess I may have to work harder tomorrow.
14700 steps with 1 hr dog walk. 25 minutes static cycle at 80% max hr. Some hoeing, raking and planting. On we go I just have to tough it out and see if bg or me fall first!

Don’t be too hard on yourself Ianp, like your advice to me. Last night was an improved 14,300 steps. Planning for more today- see how it goes. Don’t get lost in the mist xx

Not exercise directly but a request for information. I know there are some very knowledgeable people on this thread e.g. @johnpol and @kev-w . My question is what weights/body weight exercises can I do to strengthen my core without risking damage to lower back. I say this as I am waiting for results of MRI scan on back but I know all my exercise is usually cardio based. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi all. Still taking it easy. Got off the train a stop early on way to work and went for a lunch time walk. Total 12,322 steps.

My fingers have had a lot of exercising (doing some piano playing, computer-based admin work and filing) today after a slow, sleepy day of recovery and not eating yesterday. Just managed a half an hour walk for the first time since Wednesday. Not counting the toddle to the GPs to pick up a prescription yesterday. That was less than five minutes each way though it felt a lot further!
