I didn't realise you were taking sitagliptin! I also take the inhibitor to stop insulin flushing. For what symptom do you need it for?
When you take your meds into consideration, then you don't have to lo carb and do not need the replacement hi calorie and fat!
I rarely go over 6.0 even when testing lo to med carbs but hi carbs especially grain products spike me. I do avoid them as much as possible. The odd fruit is ok and the carbs in veg are fine for me. No spuds or pasta, basmati rice is ok but not a big portion. I don't hi fat except for the Greek yoghurt and I have a dairy allergy but not lactose intolerance! Life and diet is really complicated!

Yes, a half dose, 50mg, we reduced it down the review before last, and then decreased the metformin to 500mg at the last review. Next review we intend to decrease the sitagliptin to zero. So a programmed decrease in meds at each review.
t was originally prescribed when I was 4 1/2 stone overweight, since losing the weight, my insulin resistance has improved considerably.
Should be interesting.

Did your doctor say why sitagliptin?
Is it because of your insulin resistance or as part of weight loss due to it being used as a dietary suppressor?

It was originally prescribed to control my BS, on the basis it increases the insulin production, hence allegedly to help counteract the insulin resistance.

I think I have it.
I know that sitagliptin is a diabetic drug.
But it's weird that you use it for producing insulin, and I get for restricting insulin, I don't hypo because of it,
What the hell?

Ok, I now seem to have created an anti starch.

I went to the gym,
treadmill
exercise bike
rowing machine
resistance, now targeting the legs as well as the upper body.

An hour and a half in all.

So I though, now's a good time to try the potato from yesterday.
Re-heated in the microwave, finished in the oven, with a good amount of cheese, and a bit of butter.
(Do it properly)

4.1 before eating
6.0 after 1 hour
3.3 after 2 hours

I can't remember being 3.3 before.
I don't intend to carry on eating these, not until I've stopped the sitagliptin in a few weeks time, and done the Newcastle for a few weeks as well, but I have no idea why it should have gone so low today.
Just when you thought diabetes couldn't surprise you.

3.3 is considered a hypo.
Maybe you need to retest unless you have already taken something for it. If you haven't eaten since, take another test after 2 1/2 and then hours just to see if you stabilise.
You started very low as well, but not as a T2. I believe your low numbers must be the sitagliptin.

I am really tempted to drop them now.
The only thing stopping me is I have a three day dive trip next week, and I know how I am at the moment I am fine for the amount of energy expenditure in the icy water, so I don't want to alter anything, but then again, the numbers seen to be changing by themselves.
I'm going to lay off the experiments, eat as I used to for the last few weeks, and then mess about with the diet and the drugs.

Be careful about driving if you are still getting hypo test numbers.
I am not allowed to drive as my condition is viewed to be too dangerous. I am trying to get this changed through my consultant. I will have to wait until my next test. It is something that I have accepted.
Test before driving and always eat and drink sufficient whilst driving.
Defo stop the experimenting and go back to what suits you.
The metformin is not as effective as the inhibitor, you wouldn't probably notice the difference.

Weird one today.

I didn't feel low, which is different, as normally I hate being below 4.5, and can normally really feel it.
But I was home with my feet up, being lazy.
I do test though, but technically my meds shouldn't make me hypo.
I have been pushing the numbers recently, so it is time to stop for a couple of weeks, as I don't want to push it when I dive.

The potato was weird though.

I have eaten tonight with the family, not a carby meal, and my daughter is home tonight, and has a nice bottle of scotch, and it's a time to have a few shots for family reasons, and memories of people, and I'm back to 6.3.

I was at the gym earlier, and by a strange co-incidence, the trainer was a diabetic specialist, and he reckons he has seen diabetes been reversed, and we also discussed low carb, and low calorie, as a solution.

As a T2 your meds are designed to lower your BSLs. By the numbers I have seen you have controlled the high numbers and I believe you need another discussion about your meds after your trip.!you should have another Hb1ac test to see what your averages are.
A couple of whiskys shouldn't do much harm, as long as it's a treat! And as you say it is a special occasion.
Keep an eye on your BSLs and keep control mate! Enjoy you're diving! I'm jealous! Cos I'm freezing walking the dog and at work!

It is freezing, but maybe I see the pain as recompense for the decadent lifestyle that got me where I am, maybe that's why I cope very well with the calorie controlled diet,
but the one thing I can always go back to,

if I wasn't diagnosed, I'd still be over weight.
if i was overweight, I wouldn't be doing the things I am now.

If I wasn't doing the things I am doing now, I'd still be on the sofa, eating donuts, watching tv, waiting for the heart attack..

The chip butties,
Fruit & nut chocolate!
The pizzas
A pint of bitter.
And my favourite chicken tikka massala, pilau rice, popadums, chutney, onion bahjees,
And every pudding, cake, cheesecake et al!

I'm going for a cold shower lol!

A mere snack!

Actually, I remember my dietician,

'A family sized quiche is not a snack'

Why she never gave up, and simply punched me in the face?

Maybe that's it?
I did the crime, I can do the time?

On balance, I've eaten my food allowance to about 2031?

My mother always said I had hollow legs!

I've posted this on 2 other threads about this subject, so here's a copy. I started by thinking 'But who on earth would want to do that?' And finished here:-

Do you think maybe 'they' are trying to sell more ready meals by promoting reheating of carbs? It would make sense since the carbs are the cheapest bit of the ready meal, very few ready meals don't contain carbs and very many contain pasta. All this talk in the media about healthy eating and diabetes is probably hitting sales.
