Reversal of T2 by Vegan Diet

I read Dr Fuhrman's book for reversing diabetes and this works for me ...... low translates, no dairy, no eggs, little white meat and fish 1 to 2 times a week, some nuts and seeds, pulses, veggies and fruit. Not a slimming diet but I have slowly and steadily lost weight. Much more energy, gut problems cured, 180 units insulin a day down to 70 after 3 months. Never feel hungry and no cravings! Do miss my cheese!!

Has anyone practical experience of reversing or improving T2 D. by a radical change in dietary habits.?

The reason I ask is having reviewed the lectures of Neil Barnard [YouTube] re T2 and his claim that muscle insulin resistance is exacerbated by fat in cells that prevent glucose entering, and the hypothesis being remove completely all animal fats and dairy fats, [fish included] from the diet re balances matters on several front. effectively a vegan diet

Does anyone have first hand information or ideally practical results from any of these processes. I dont want to get into a carnivore/vegetarian argument and ethics of meat production, but simply trying to clarify all the options. With so many MD's extolling the virtues of the different plans that's theirs is better than so and so, understandably because there are big book sales involved, it doesn't leave clearly defined options for us.

Well, my blood glucose numbers jumped way high around sept. 1st. I was on 3 Mg glimeperide and 2000 Mg metformine. I was put - gradually- on 6 Mg glimeperide and 5 Mg linagliptine. At the same time I started a vegan diet, not fat free, only using olive and coconut oils, about a T per day. Only using fresh veggies, whole grains, nuts and legumes. Of course not the "vegan" processed stuff from the supermarket! As far as I am concerned, whatever diet you use, 'healthy processed food' is a contradictio in terminis.

At first the increased medicine did still not get my numbers back to "normal", and I was told I had to meet with a specialist to get started on insulin. But gradually, more and more hypos occurred, and I was taken back off the linagliptine. Now, I am back to the 2 mg of glimepiride, and though the numbers are still on the high side I am hoping for further improvement.

Was it the vegan diet? Did I have a strange blip in my blood glucose numbers? Was it something else? I am not overweight and have lost little weight on the diet. By the way, if you take a little time, vegan food is very tasty! I am not suffering one bit. I did a 5-year stint of Macrobiotics about 20 years ago, which solved my irritable bowel syndrome, this diet is similar. Btw, I was on low-carb from a year before the onset of the diabetes until I switched to vegan, about 7 years total.
