My morning blood sugar levels have been in the 6's for 15 months. 2 months ago they crept up into the 7's and this morning it is 8.1

I am eating around 100g of carbs a day, slow releasing ones. I am doing nothing different. Should I be worried and seek medical advice?

I wouldn't be too worried as 8.1 isn't massivley high, but as your blood sugar is rising yet you are doing nothing different I would have a chat with your diabetic nurse at your GP surgery.

my initial feeling is 8.1 isnt high...though compared with my sugar levels its positively low...i would keep monitoring and not worry too much until they get into double figures.

Hi I've always been told my my GP and Consultant that the weather plays a huge impact on our sugar levels, so does the amount of exercise we do, what we drink and also age. Maybe its one of these. If your worried I'd recommend talking to your Dr, just for peace of mind.

Good luck

Don't get too worried, my morning is always about 15 medication and exercise and a good diet will help . Your long term levels are more important, daily levels can vary throughout the day. See your diabetic nurse if it continues to bother you.

Not a high reading, but creeping up - are you having something before bed that is bad that you don't realize? I have to say I do way less carbs to keep my level down with less insulin. My level seems to go wrong if I don't move about enough.

Your morning levels can be affected by overnight glucose dumps by the liver for many reasons. I would keep an eye on your 2 hour post-meal readings and see if these are rising. Your next HBa1C should reveal any trend needing attention.
