I love the libre, it’s pretty much accurate when testing with bloods. Am I running my levels too tight? I seem to be low a lot.. but usually cruising low rather than hypo. This normal?
This weeks estimated a1c is 5.7 - I assume is good?
Find it hard to get in with my dsn, only seen her once since diagnosed! So any advice from those in the know appreciated (that’s this wonderful forum!)

Bumping this up for you.

Just a suggestion, it might help to put type 1 in the tittle as most newly diagnosed are type 2 so your thread might get missed by the experienced type 1 members.

@h4kr did you test when the Libre showed you at hypo level? Did you have symptoms? I know there can be some discrepancy between Libre values and BG testing.

How are your actual BG results before meals and 2 hours after?

They are pretty much as the libre, sometimes I feel cloudy.. but no real hypo feelings.. I only get these around 2sIMG_1518372688.299502.jpg

Hi @h4kr I would try and raise your daily average, if, as your libre indicates you had 4 hypos on the 9th Feb then this is too many and will start to affect your hypo awareness, it's important to retain hypo awareness for many reasons including protecting your driving licence, try and look for patterns from your libre as you may need to review your basal doses as you're still fairly new to this http://www.salforddiabetescare.co.uk/index2.php?nav_id=1007

Hi @h4kr . I think you're doing wonderfully well all things considered. As you are probably aware you may still be in the honeymoon period which tends make things a little bit easier in some respects.
One problem with having your BS levels low on a regular basis can be the loss of awareness of being low/ hypo.
This is not a problem you really want to have going forward, especially when you're honeymoon period finishes.
In order to regain hypo awareness our bodies need to move away from low BS levels being regular/ the norm. You may benefit from running your BS levels slightly higher for a while, maybe closer to 7 for an average HbA1C. This in turn will / should increase your hypo awareness. Running slightly higher will not have any detrimental affects on you long term. Once you feel that hypos are more apparent at around the 5 mark ( on your meter ) then set your targets a bit lower again.
Good luck to both yourself and daughter.

Thanks guys.. I thought I might be pushing a little hard to start, my wife thinks I’m mad to be low all the time. Will try running a bit higher and see how it goes. Been paranoid about higher numbers a bleak future :/. I know this might be unfounded at this early stage.
So much help here! Thx!!!

Yeah I'd be looking for around 5.0 most of the time that way you have some cushion. When you're running 3.8 you don't have much lower to go before you could get gorked. Remember my motto for Type 1's: you're either on your way up or on your way down.

my consultant was getting twitchy when i was holding at 5. are you not feeling of being so low. a little higher maybe better. maybe a clickor 2 cut in insulin

Are you on a basal/bolus regime? If so, I'd be thinking about reducing my basal, as you really don't want to go low at night. Do you have a diabetes nurse you can call for advice? I agree with the others that you're running too low, you don't want to slip into bad hypos. Did you wake for that night time hypo?

I never wake up for night time hypos, and only really feel the day time ones when really low 2s & early 3s.
I’m on lantus (night) and novorapid (meal times).
Have changed my lantus to one unit less (2 nights now) and upped my icr on each meal time novorapid by one.
Seems to have eliminated the lows yesterday and woke up at 5.9 today. Feels odd (in my brain- not physically) cruising around 5-6 after all I’ve read about keeping control and not letting sugars go high...
guess it’s a trap T1s fall into, I have compulsive tendencies so have been fixated on low numbers.. :)
