You could try eating first thing and then late in the day - my fast is when awake not sleeping - first I find it more useful not to have to find food when out of the house, and secondly it seems to work well to lower blood glucose levels. If I eat about 5 gm of carbs as breakfast I don't see my BG levels going up all morning and then dropping rapidly in the afternoon.
When I was taking Metformin I waited until lunchtime to eat and take the tablet, so I could go out of the house first thing, and ate earlier in the evening to try to get the worst of the consequences over before bedtime, but the fasting through the night did not seem as effectve as fasting through the day.
