In my life I have lived through terrible times, yet I barely remember them through the humourous recall and the funny side of the incident! When you look back - it is amazing what you can see in hindsight. Becoming a diabetic was a horrid reality, yet I laugh myself sick at the memories of stumbling about try to come to terms with it.

I made mistakes, paid the price and stumbled on to the next hurdle. It was hard, but I learned that nothing is so difficult you can't see the funny side sooner or later. Laughter is the vent that lets pressure escape before it can do damage. The best part of laughter is.....it is gift easily shared. You enjoy it more when someone laughs with you.

Laughter is a great healer too. Hospital patients who laugh and feel happy have faster healing time in both emotional and physical injury. Mental health is greatly effected by humour and happy stimulus. I have made my own observations, where the best BGL's occur during periods of intense interaction involving laughter. It doesn't work all the time, mind you - it's fun trying!!

What a great post. I find it's extremely therapeutic to have a little laugh and perhaps make others smile. Even if it just takes your mind off the stress of managing your condition for a few minutes, it's worth it.

Diabetes is work, whatever the type. It causes people to feel a lot of anger and depression. Some express that in a negative way towards others, often on the Internet and often in a passive-aggressive way. That serves no purpose IMO. It's important to relax, share a joke and just be a normal person. It's nice to be nice. :)

Thank you for posting this. There is a thread on this site dedicated solely to humerous topics and anecdotes, and I benefit from it often.

My late uncle while under going chemo for his second time round with cancer, was being helped out of bed by some nurses he cracked a very funny joke which got them all laughing, he laughed so hard he fell off the bed cracked his head had a coronary and died. I always new he would die laughing he was that type of bloke.

now thats black humor even telling about this episode :woot:

But true he spent his life telling jokes and playing practical jokes of which I was on the receiving end of many a time, he never lost that even in the darkest of times and of those he had had many.

So when I think of him I always smile.

I'm pretty sure that's how I want to go. Surrounded by giggling nurses with a smile on my face.
