Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
Is anyone else having trouble getting a sharps box?

I was given a larger box last time so has lasted me a little while.

When I went back to pick up my script and get a new box I was told no......

Get it from the doctor. I said no the doctor would not give me one as I was type 2.

I said I had always picked one up from the pharmacy!

It didn't help when I said they were calling me a liar.... which they were certainly implying.

So have to go back next week. Not like I don't have to pay.

Got the smart box people coming later, can't have one of those either.... Happy Days :-)

My local council provides a medical sharps collection service free of charge. I can also get empty replacement sharps boxes delivered to my door at the same time as they are collecting full ones. Check if your council has a similar service.

It differs in different areas, and I know I'm very fortunate because I order from the council and they also collect full ones. Maybe worth checking if your council offers this. I've never been asked why I need one, so they've no idea I'm diabetic.

Well they pick mine up but shall check if they deliver. Thanks

Have to order off ebay in future. Better for me. Council only pick up.

Bless you are going through it at the moment. I buy online at the cheapest, but you should not have been treated like that.

Thanks. Have decided if the pharmacy has it in next week. After that shall order through ebay....At least they deliver through Royal Mail.

Depending on how much you can afford, I have just bought 4 for 10.76p on ebay and delivery through Hermes. Sometimes I personally find it easier to just go without the huffs, puffs and general rolling of eyes and source myself. I am so "fearful of giving what for" to the medically trained (she says with eyes rolling), as I have done so many times and fear I will be struck off the books :hilarious:

Went to the pharmacy today to pick up sharps box. Had no idea what size they had ordered me.
Got a bit of a shock...... 5Litre! It will likely take me about 3.5 years to fill it up.....
Think they wanted to get rid of me

I bought a small litre sized one from Amazon. That was 3 years ago. I still haven’t filled it.

In my area the local council provides and collects sharps boxes

Some pharmacies will take them, and they are quite cheap to buy

This a genuine question but why would someone who is T2 diet only need a sharps box? I’ve never had one but I use a multiclix and the lances stay in the barrel, I did have a standard lancer for a while but the pharmacist said they can go in household waste no problem as the amount of blood is so tiny it dries instantly and isn’t considered medical waste, same for test strips -if I was concerned put them in a plastic tub. He said people put broken glass and sharper objects in their household waste everyday that are far more dangerous.
