Shoes and socks

I had a right scare after my first jab - thought I might lose at least one toe - so I now check my feet a couple of times a week and am diligent in using the temperature of the shower water and a bit of massage to encourage blood flow to my feet almost every day. My feet are not in need of moisturiser any more - though I do rub a bit onto my toenails as I am prone to them curling in and want to prevent that. I still have all my toes, though one small joint is fused.
I have always worn well fitting flat shoes and make my own socks, the only thing I avoid these days are open toes sandals, but that is down to my untidy nature and a few collisions with things in the dark. If I do get some small injury it heals up quite quickly, so I don't get anxious about small scratches or insect bites, but I do check up on them.
One thing which could be indicative of a reduction in blood flow to the feet is a lack of hairs below the knees, if that is any help in reassuring you.

Hiking boots arrived as scheduled. I wore this tree-climbing boot from Merrell for a couple of days thinking they will need to be broken in. To my surprise, they were very comfortable right out of the box with just a little stiffness. It took a day for the stiffness to soften. I read reviews that they are not waterproof as advertised. I walked through puddles of water and my feet stayed dry.

I wear 'Bamboo' socks from Sock shop. Soft and very comfortable.

I've found Gentle Grip socks
https://gentlegrip.co.uk/
to work perfectly for avoiding/lessening oedema problems. As they're not very thick I may have to experiment with wearing two pairs or thick insoles when it gets a bit colder.
In the U.K. You can buy them in Matalan 3 pairs for £6 (ladies)
Not sure about mens.

I have found that Sea salt bamboo sailor socks to be brilliant , they are seam less with very little elastic , I think with the bamboo they take the moisture away from your feat , they call it wicking , I have been wearing them now for about two years and my fungal nail infection in my big toes which has plagued me for decades has disappeared and on top of that they last a lot longer than cotton socks , of course there are other makes of bamboo socks available .
