Hi guys. I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a week ago. My doctor told me to exercise as much as I can and watch my diet. Im a skinny type 2. Within a week of healthy eating and living, i found that i have eliminated excessive thirst and fatigue. Im no longer as thirsty as before and as for fatigue, I still feel it sometimes but it is not as extreme as the past few weeks. Is this some sort of improvement or progress? Would appreciate it if someone could shed some light here. Thanks :)

Hi @justism91 and welcome to the forum. It might be worth you buying a blood glucose meter and checking your levels, as that's the best way to determine how you are progressing. I'vetagged @daisy1 to provide some information!

Hi and welcome,

A blood glucose meter is an essential tool. It will not only show if you are progressing in the right direction, but will also help enormously with your diet. Using one properly you can see at a glance what your last meal has done to your levels, and as patterns emerge it enables you to cut out or cut down on certain foods - these foods being mainly carbohydrates. (It isn't just sugar that matters!) Without one you are working blind.

Good luck on your journey, and do ask questions.

Hi @justism91 great attitude and start to getting superb control. Depending on the severity of your diabetes you may get some strange sensations as the sugars in your system lower. E.g. faintness, temporary eye focus issues (maybe 2 to 3 weeks) some lethargy (soon turns around) - but push through it.

In getting control, diet is circa 80% of thr equation, with exercise, reducing stress levels and additional sleep the rest (the last 2 are just as important).

As you are recently diagnosed you may also have some mental backlash, like why me - this would be normal, but again push through it. I would suggest body and dumbell HiiT for 10 to 15 minutes morning and night if you can, and static cycle HiiT.
