Silly old fool pressed wrong button

Hello all, the original title was "One post to many deleted"

I had decided to go on the assumption that my posts were being deleted by admin or the mods and I was not being told.

I was wrong and I apologise to the mods for any slur on their excellent skills in managing this forum.

It is now clear that I have been, from time to time, pressing the wrong button, there is no fool like an old fool!!

On one occasion I simply saved the post, it was in drafts, on others my to rapid use of the touch pad has been wiping the message before it had chance to post.

Good news! I am back!! :D

Geoff

Now is not a good time to leave. There be monsters out there...

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Have you asked Admin about this?

May be along shot but this could have happened in error?

I understand your point though as it must be frustrating for this to happen, i would expect a PM to explain when and why my post was deleted.

I hope a mod or admin will post to you soon or deal with this via PM as it's a shame when anyone leaves the forum.

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Hi Geoff

I've checked the moderator panel and cannot see a deleted post of yours. I've checked over the last week and not found a post of yours that has been deleted.

Is there a particular post that can't be found? Please PM me and I'll look into this right away.

With many thanks
Benedict

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Are you sure it didn't just time out, and you had to sign back in? I've lost many a post that way...my fault for posts being too long...or walking away to go and get a cuppa!!!!

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Guess this is a little late if Geoff has already gone...but I lose lots of posts too. I was concerned, and checked with the then mod, and was told they were not being deleted. I am fairly sure it is due to me being in a rush (hence the bad spelling!) It happens if I don't wait long enough for the forum to catch up.

very annoying, but ultimately my fault!

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

I've done it in the past - discovered I was "saving" them instead of posting them! (Pressing "Save" instead of "Submit")

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Hi Anna :) Go into User Control Panel, select manage drafts then a list of your drafts comes up and you select the one you want and press load draft. It goes back to where you were posting.

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Would you like us to see if there's a way of removing the 'Save' option?

Not for everyone though as I use it frequently. Could be an option in Board Preferences?

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Ah, there's no way of customising that it seems - it's either one of the other!

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Often what happens when submitting a post is that you'll too quick returning to the index page, and this seems to knock out the post submission..

You've clicked the submit buttom, then you give the your post has been submitted, do you want to go back to thread, index! If you click out of this page too quick you actually lose the post, it's best to wait until this page automatically takes you back to the thread page!

Would it be possible just to tell everyone what the "Save" option is for and how to use it. I think it's very useful if you are writing a long post and need to interrupt it in the middle to do something else, or to be sure you don't lose it if you're afraid there will be a power cut!! Or other computer problems which crop up regularly :( I also use it a lot when I write a post and then save it for later to think about it before I press submit.

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

I lost a post just this morning, I didn't realise and I click on the return to the board index button all the time.

Re: Goodbye, one deleted post to many

Quick reply doesn't let you save - perhaps use that?
