Site problems ?

If I remember administrator posted saying there might be problems

We're seeing unprecedented loads on the forum (literally >20,000 people viewing threads concurrently) which has meant we've had the server HD struggle hard. We believe this is sorted now, but if you could let me know if you ever have any more issues, that'd be really useful. Sorry about that, sometimes spikes are just unexpected!

Viewers are one thing and joining is another .. Just saying , Not complaining in case I am misunderstood ..:)
Spikes ...New word to me ...

Now the dark web is being spoken about on TVs .. Scary stuff ..

if u dont even get a taste of the site then why would u join? i read without loging in and dont see it as a problem and most websites let u read too without signing up!

My kindle keeps 'freezing' which is unusual and very frustrating is anyone else having a problem?

Yes mine does as well!

Is there a reason for this @Administrator?

Also, not getting latest posts or is the site slow on posts?

Just looked currently 1500+ viewing site!!!!

Hi Kat, A lot of people joined the forum because they were allowed to browse first to decide if it was for them or not. I spent several weeks reading posts before I decided to join, I got the help I needed, made friends and have a laugh but nobody really knows my true identity nor yours so we are safe.
By the way a 'spike' is a rise, like if you tried a new food and it shot your BG up the increase is known as a spike.

It really depends on the day, and whether diabetes (any type) is in the news. The LIDL bread roll thread http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/lidl-high-protein-low-carb-rolls.77299/ is really quite popular. Tuesdays and Thursdays see the biggest spike.

However a lot of the traffic today was as a result of 2 of Kurt's articles, http://www.diabetes.co.uk/blog/2015...-tequila-thats-good-for-people-with-diabetes/ and http://www.diabetes.co.uk/in-depth/prediabetes-useless-label/

This post also gets a lot of people reading on the forum http://www.diabetes.co.uk/in-depth/prediabetes-useless-label/ as it's currently number 1 in Apple's News app!

Digital stats show that 75% of people in a forum will read (the technical name, albeit sounding a bit sinister, is 'lurker'). 25% actively post. We're finding that up to 85% will lurk/only read and some spend several months just browsing the site/forum before joining. People like to remain anonymous online and so the stats do follow some rationale!
