So Apparently I Have Textbook Somogyi Rebound Effect....

Dare I say it...How about before going to sleep. Have a glass of red wine and a slice of cheese. I find this keeps my fasting BS lower

Other than not liking red wine that sounds like a fine idea.

Not sure a doctor would advise drinking more though :D

Would Port have the same result I wonder? LOL!

Setting my alarm for 2 am would make for a horrendous lifestyle. I'm a single father with a 7yr old. Added to that I find it near impossible to go back to sleep once I've woken up. I'd be a zombie! :(
Yeah, I don't blame you for that. My only other suggestion is to keep a food and bloods diary and do as @Lamont D suggested - you need to find out if there are specific foods that trigger or abate the issue. If finances permit, consider getting a cgm such as the freestyle libre so you can see exactly what is happening at night. (I believe you can get an app so you can use your phone rather than a reader, so it would just be the cost of a sensor for two weeks of cgm.)

If I eat dinner later and have a couple of beers my Bg stays at a sensible level through the night and doesn't start climbing too early. (I'm hearing gasps from the audience!) :p

I'm seriously considering a CGM - slightly freaked out by it... but it might be an option.

My Doctor almost laughed when he heard that when the hospital jacked me up on insulin after checking my fasting Bg it forced nocturnal hypos. Wasn't the first time he'd called me "weird" :O Nut at least it kinda led to the Somogyi diagnosis.

Fingers crossed the endo can come up with something!

CGM is absolutely the way forward - even koalas are getting on board.

1st batch of test results that the Endo requested are back - all normal ??? what the.... :(

Have one of the new Freestyle Libres it shows my perfect Somogyi graph each day.

Endo wants me to get a Dexcon at some point.

So, still no clues.

Started taking Ashwagandha to see if Cortisol is the culprit.

I expect that anything that reduces insulin resistance will be of benefit to you as it will allow the body to respond to the raised blood glucose quicker. Options include resistance training, high intensity interval training and low-carb diets. I assume you have already tried metformin.

So would mine be!
It's only after eating that may body is different.
Having normal blood panel should give a clue that it is only one test to prove you haven't got what the test was designed for!

Keep pushing, try and get them to test other conditions which has similar symptoms.
