Hi All

Iv recently cut down alcohol significantly and as a result pretty bored on what i am drinking on a night time in the house. Any ideas on some low sugar carb drinks which are a little more exciting than water and black coffee?

Did you cut back on alcohol for the carbs? I don't drink because of my fatty liver disease, but if carbs are the concern, there are low carb alcoholic drinks you can still take in without getting a big spike.https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/alcohol Keep in mind that it does affect how your liver responds to low blood glucose (It's can't filter alcohol AND do a liverdump when you're low), and if you're low carbing alcohol hits you like a hammer.

But if you want to cut back, well... I'm usually content with coffee or tea, or a diet soda. As it turns out I don't respond well to artificial sweeteners, but if they're not a problem for you, diet coke, 7Up, sprite and the like could be an option... Not exactly exciting, but... It's something different. I also rather like warm coconutmilk with cinnamon...

I just realised just how very boring I am, haha. :)

Carbonated diet drinks are not so good because of the artificial sweetners used.

I tend to drink peppermint tea, and ginger tea, or sparkling mineral water as an alternative.

Or maybe something like one of the squashes (some may have more carbs than others though) - I drink Robinsons orange squash when at work (they quite nicely provide it for those that don't drink tea or coffee) and although it doesn't state the exact carb value on the back of the bottle it does say it has a negligible amount of carbs in it for a serving. Apart from that I normally go for diet coke (the orange squash is probably healthier).

My favourite very low carb still soft drink is Tesco sugar free Cherries and Berries no added sugar squash :hungry:

I drink vodka and Diet Coke no carbs no sugar no spikes

Sipping whisky?
Good single malt can keep occupied for hours with just the occasional sip.

Here in Canada I drink diet Cherry Pepsi. I know diet pop isn't good for me but sometimes I get cravings, and for whatever reason I find the diet cherry flavour tastes sweeter than regular diet (it masks the artificial sweetener taste better).

I love Seedlip and tonic. It’s a botanical drink and my favourite is Garden Seedlip with tonic. It tastes like one of those fancy gins but no carbs, calories, alcohol or sugar. Same price as a good gin sadly but I don’t feel like I’m denying myself anything.

All the Tesco sugar free drinks taste like pure acid to me. Aldi do a great double concentrate apple and blackberry squash. The Sainsbury's ones that I've tried are ok, but not as good as the Aldi one.
