Soft Drinks

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have a few questions to members.
The Orange Squash that I have states Carbs of which sugar at 0.2g per 100ml.
Q1) Is this a good measure to drink say 1ltr a day without taking blood sugar levels over the top?
The fizzy drink I have has the same Carb reading of 0.2g per 100ml.
Q2) If I were to drink say 250ml on top of the 1 ltr of squash during the day would that be over the top?

There’s one major difference to consider between the squash and the fizzy pop and that is the fizzy pop carb count will be as it is drunk. The squash on the other hand, you need to look at whether it is the value as the concentrate or the value made up as instructed. As @Guzzler says look at just the carb count, ignore sugars.
Personally I drink no added sugar squashes and Diet fizzy drinks, but I have tested to know that they don’t affect my blood sugars.

What they said above.:)

And if you have a question... ask it. No need to be saying sorry about anything. Just ask away.

Lots of good people here willing to help out.

Thank you both for your replies.
All this is new to me having become a Type 2 after a heart attack on Tuesday.
When at work I did dring 1ltr of squash during the day with my food. When I come home I drank 250ml of cloudy lemonade with my meal.
What I'm trying to sort out is a new system similar to the old I can work to when I go back without going over the yet to be sorted blood sugar level.

I drink no added sugar squash and to me there’s no discernible difference in taste between that and the sugary stuff.
I have an occasional Diet Coke or Pepsi Max if I am out but find they don’t affect my sugar levels.
There are a range of healthy options out there if simple water is not to your taste. Must admit it’s not to mine.

@ardvark
i avoid all the drinks like that..diluted / full fat or diet.
just simpler and easy.(.just how i likes it.:wacky: )

now it's purely tea, herbal teas, hot lemon, and water and water with REAL fruit added

This type of thing.

Water Infusers

makes the water a tad more pleasant and less boring, when i first started it helped as visual aid to drink sufficient water,
and now i can really TASTE sugars again, i tend to need less fruits to flavour it.
tried lemons, and limes, not tried strawberries etc but would be the same benefits i'd guess.

Plus it's what all us cool kids use at the gym, so this old fogey doesn't feel too out of place and ashamed getting out me old thermos flask on the treadmills...hahaha :D

Low added sugar drinks should be fine but check the total carbs. You may want to control your intake of the sugar substitutes in the squash and any caffeine to avoid excess.
